10 ppg, 9 apg, 2 spg. Aggressive defender, good ballhandler (2 to pg). Free Agent. Cheap.

    Thoughts?

Charlotte will prob look to resign him. He played great for them and he can be their PG while they build up their team

Yes I would. A pass first point guard with a defensive knack. BUT this guy is a bad shooter, and his turnovers have been disproportionately high in certain times during his career. We'll need to keep Mike James if we do this so we can have some scoring off the bench, or defense off the bench when Mike James starts (not to say that James is a bad defender; I've got no real opinion on that).

I've always liked the guy. Two problems with him are that he is very fragile (seems to always miss a lot of games) and he does not have a three-point shot (even though he made a few last season). Still, at the right price, I think he could be a nice pickup.

You're right about 3s. He doesn't shoot the three well at all, but is not that bad from 18 and in. He would be a great starter I think, to feed the ball in the right spots to Yao and T-Mac. Then let Mike James come in with the second team to provide offense from the PG spot. He would seem to fit well both offensively and defensively with JVG as well. If he got anywhere near his 9 apg/2tpg/2spg with us next year he would be a steal for the right price.

I would love to have Brevin Knight on the Rockets. I wanted to get him last offseason when he was a free agent and ended up signing with Charlotte for 1 year at the minimum. I can't understand why no one wanted this guy. He's had a great season in Charlotte and they will definitely try to keep him. What kind of contract do you guys think he will be getting?

Some of the draft scenarios have Charlotte picking Chris Paul and #3. They have Jason Hart on the roster already, so they might be willing to let Knight go.

Will he forgive us for jettisoning his brother?

I wanted him last year and I still wouldn't mind having him this year. I only worry if offenses won't take advantage of him by posting up their taller point guards. Knight does play the passing lanes well which keeps him from being a total liability on the defensive end. I also feel that we could be set at point guard with Sura and James, but if we get rid of moochie and ward i say bring him in if he will sign for a minimum contract.

I love the way he runs his team, but I'm not sure how well he'd run ours - at least, not when we're in a half court. Knight loves to run and gun. Further, I'm not sure I like the fact he isn't much a shooter. We need guys who space the floor.

I thought he did a good job in the half court sets as well, at least in the games he played against us. He set up Okafor for a lot of easy baskets in half court sets including the one that sent the first game into over time. It's true he doesn't have 3 point range, but he's pretty accurate from 18 feet and that's enough to keep defenses honest.

I love Brevin Knight to death. He is absolutely one of my favorite players in the whole league.

...but he doesn't fit with us. With two superstars with passing skills, we diminish their effectiveness by putting bad shooters around them. And Knight is a very bad shooter, make no mistake. We want a point guard who can shoot and play D. Those are absolute musts.
