Nets were up by 4 with about 20 seconds left. Sonics ball. Mason drains a sweet turnaround. Sonics foul Nets with about 11 seconds left. Richard Jefferson misses TWO FTs. Rashard Lewis leads the break, dishes to Bones in the corner.....no doubt there. Just a frenzy.

    Nah,

We just have that choker Mobley who missed 2 in a one point loss late in the Phoenix game.

Or the Choker Moochie who missed both late in the Clippers game.

I would trade Griffin for Jefferson straight up......today at least.

That was just my very indirect way of supporting OUR players for once. sure eddie looks bad now, but we have to support him through his tough times.

Well the Nets defeated the Blazers on saturday, probably because the Blazers did not play that well, at one point they were down by 25 points but they managed to tie the game but ran out of gas in the 4th quarter. This may not mean much but keep in mind the Blazers defeated the Sonics not too long ago. And they have a good chance of beating Dallas on Wednesday if they've got their act together or they can get blown out.

I'm not sure if you mean that you think that Griffin will be better and are looking at Jefferson as the better player at the moment, or if you think that, based on what both have displayed thus far, Jefferson will be better in the long run as well...

If it's the latter, how premature...

And in a year or so you'll be kicking yourself saying "Damn, Griffin is a monster rebounder and shot-blocker and he improved his offensive game, why did the Rockets trade him when they could have paired him with Ming!" Griffin is only 21 or 22 years old and he has showed a ton of potential, I'll take him easily over Jefferson.

I saw so many Rockets fans suddenly in awe over Jefferson after being excited about Griffin and talking about they would trade Griffin for Jefferson, first of all the Rockets need front court help, but Jefferson is only scoring 14 ppg! Griffin will improve his 8 ppg, but Griffin has shown he will be a better rebounder and he is far and away a better shot-blocker. Now we have a dominant center, why would you want to trade a 20 year old who is only in his 2nd year in the league who has shown he can be a good to great big man when you can pair him with a dominant center and you have a SF developing now (Nachbar). I would take Nachbar and Griffin over Jefferson any day of the week. I mean Griffin struggles for a month or so and people are willing to trade him for a guy who is scoring 14 ppg at the SF spot? Especially with our weakness up front? Either way by next year, even by the end of this year, the people willing to trade Griffin for Jefferson will disappear as Griffin re-establishes himself.

Does anyone ever consider the fact that playing alongside Jason Kidd makes Jefferson a better player?

If Jefferson played alongside Francis instead of Kidd, would he still look as good? IMO, no. The quality of the shots he takes would not be as high.

If Griffin played alongside Kidd instead of Francis, would he look as mediocre? IMO, no. Kidd's court vision and passing ability would allow Griffin more open looks and better quality shots than he gets now.

    Exactly.

Jefferson has the Shandon Anderson effect. He's a very athletic player, and when you combine that with a pass-first point guard that is great in transition, it translates to easy dunks and layups in transition to pad your stats and look flashy.

Shandon couldn't really shoot in Utah either... it was just hidden because Stockton found him on so many cuts. Jefferson would get us on Sportscenter more, but we aren't a fastbreak team. For a halfcourt offense without a lot of off the ball movement, you need your wings to be able to shoot and handle the ball, not fly around with "mad hops" and make cool dunks.

When or if Jefferson goes to a different system, his production will drop.

Obviously, you haven't seen Jefferson shoot much this year.

His jumper looks ugly, but that doesn't mean the result is ugly.
