Why is Erick Dampier's backup center getting so much attention? At least Gortat was young and backup up Dwight. This guy can't start ahead of Eric freaking Dampier There was an article in an NY paper calling Haywood the best FA center (better than Brad Miller?) and now there is a poll on the RealGM front page saying "Is Brenden Haywood worth $10M per year?" AND 11% SAID YES.
yup i dont think any single GM will take Brad Miller over Haywood at this point. Haywood is a game changer defensively on the inside. If Miller was in his Prime than yea it depends what your needs are. THey are two very different types of Centers.
yup agreed. The coaching lost them Game 3. They get haywood and Butler and they dont play them.. GO FIGURE..
Okay, maybe Miller is not as good at this point, here are more FA centers: Jermaine O'Neal Shaquille O'Neal Mehmet Okur Zyrdurunas Ilguaskas David Lee (kinda) Call me crazy but I would take all of them over Haywood.
Haywood has been very good this year but he gives off all the classic red flags: contract year, "breakout year" at the age of 30. Dude has been a marginal starter in this league for years yet here he is all of a sudden changing games and giving the Ponies a huge boost. He's been a solid acquisition but i'd be wary about paying him moving forward.
He was a perfect acquisition. He goes from a bad team to a very good team, gets a fresh start and has a contract to play for. Wouldn't touch Haywood with a 10-foot pole this offseason with much of a contract.
This. Mavs absolutely needed him, if they wanted to compete with LA. Dampier can't handle Bynum, much less Gasol and Bynum.
I think the bigger question is: Erick Dmapier: What's the big deal? Haywood should start. Not dampier
Haywood isn't worth 10 mill a year, but i would certainly give him a full MLE. He isn't a game changer, but he's a sold rebounder and he blocks shots, but anybody that gives him a 10 mill contract is crazy. This wasn't a breakout year, he just played more minutes, his rebounds were up, but over his career his per 35 minute averages have consistanly been at 9 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Even though dampier b****ed about offensive touches in the past i think he's learned to just play defense and the Mavs prefer that so all their shooters get the shots. That's the only reason i cant think of why he starts.... And i wouldnt say Haywood is just playing for a contract. I've had him on my fantasy team in the past and he's done well when given minutes. There were just too many scorers/ballhoggers in Wash though and that dint give him consistent offensive numbers.
There seems to be a pattern of you responding to my posts and not making any sense. Either clarify your "point" or just stop. Thanks.
I know a Wizards fan in Maryland and he says they've taken to calling him "Brenda" in his time there. From what I've seen, he's uncoordinated and soft so I don't see why people are fawning over him.
