Van Gundy in a local radio station in LA just said Houston is definately his next job. They asked him whats stopping him from accepting the job and he said just minor things here and there which will be done by today or tommorow.
What station? Any other details? If true, maybe you're breaking the story. Give us any specifics you got.
What was he doing talking to a local LA station? Was it live? What are the call letters? If it's a live call-in show, I'm sure someone here would like to call in to confirm.
He's probably staying up all night analyzing tape of the Rockets and coming up with new schemes on how to run the offense. You've seen those bags under his eyes haven't you. I hope this is true but giving an interview this late on a radio show sounds a little fishy.
Here's the web-site for 1340 Fox Sports News. Can't find a number though. http://www.sports1340.com/main.html
Be quiet! He's not thinking up new offensive schemes! The man has a life... He's thinking about what he can do on defense with Yao and Eddie, of course! Moron!
Yep, I was on there five minutes looking for a number and then gave up and called toll free information. No luck there either. But an internet search seems to indicate this is a national station which broadcasts over local affiliates, making it a little more believable Van Gundy'd be on than thinking he'd call in to an LA only station.
Jeff seems real personal when it comes to talking about business thats why it'shard to believe he would just come right out and announce it to a radio station. I'm crossing me fingers though.
Interesting source if this turns out to be true. I think we're all ready for the waiting to end. It does seem odd that he'd be doing a local show in LA given the time difference. Are you sure it was a live interview? Or for that matter, if it wasn't are you sure it took place BEFORE the Washington offer? One thing this says to be if Van Gundy takes the job in Houston is that he's very serious about wanting to win, if he's willing to take what has to be a much smaller contract to coach here, not to mention the issue of relocating his family and leaving the New York scene that he's so fond of. If he accept the Houston job, then that says a lot to me about his commitment to winning, and that alone will win me over.
youd better not be pullin our leg coz this is really a big thing.. i hope your telling the truth! big ups to you man!! man, im glad JVG has his mind straight not like LB!!
The show that's on right now (12 - 4 central) is the nationally broadcast Bruce Jacobs show. Here's a simulcast streaming audio link: http://www.foxsports1150.com/streaming.html They haven't said a call-in number while I've been listening, but the number for two other Fox Shows (possibly in the same studio) is 877-996-6369.
