[Breaking News]Sonics moving to OKC

Just beat me. Was on my way to post this. Unfortunate for Seattle...

 

this is sad. all the great rivalry memories.

 

So, if Jazz or Mavs moved to California you wouldn't hate them anymore?





P.S. as an okie, i think this is great!

 

I wish teams would change their names when they relocate, so we could keep storied franchise names with their respective cities ala Cleveland Browns.

 

the long flights suck but Seattle is a way prettier city then OKC, I'd hate this if I was a player

Wow, that really sucks for Seattle. As much as I hate them, I respect those Sonic fans because Key Arena used to be a TOUGH place to get a win. One of the loudest arenas in the league during the Payton/Kemp days.

They should leave the Sonic name and team history in Seattle so they can re-name the Hornets when they move there from New Orleans in a few years.

 

Seattle should have built a new stadium, they could have kept them, they chose not to.

All those great battles were in Seattle not Oklahoma.

by the way: this article just states that the ownership group is going to ask permission to move...not that it's been approved or that a move is imminent.

I remember the owner saying that they'll make less money in OKC than they did in Seattle. I guess they're just moving it because they can.

 

Isn't the new ownership group from OKC?
