Link Cops Evacuate Portion of U.S. Capitol Monday, April 11, 2005 WASHIGNTON — Capitol Police evacuated the west front of the U.S. Capitol Building (search) on Monday because a man stood between two bags, which authorities feared may contain explosives. Police, some armed with assault rifles, gathered at the top of the Capitol steps but did not try to get closer to the man, who faced the Capitol from a plaza below its west entrance. Among the officials whose offices are on the west side of the Capitol looking out upon the National Mall are House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. Upon further review, it was deemed the man had just been grocery shopping and was waiting on the bus. Ok, seriously, that's not true, but it's the first thing that came to mind...
Sounds like they've removed him from the building. Authorities rushed him and took him into custody. Still no word on what's in the suitcases.
This is why the USA feels like the USSR now........ The legal system sucks The laws that seem to be popping up now suck If he would have been a priest with bags would they have even noticed?
He must be a Chinese protesting the Japanese government! He got on the wrong plane and went to DC instead of Tokyo. Must be some Japanese history textbooks he plans to burn in the bags!
You have to admit, it does look pretty suspicious. Especially if the guy wasn't responding to police.
Cops came up from behind and took him down after yelling at him to move. I bet this guy didn't even speak english, or was a clueless tourist.
