Earthquake measuring 8.2 reported off coast of Indonesia on same fault line as quake that caused December’s deadly tsunami. Details soon. CNN.com
BIG RED stripe on the top. More details coming soon... Yahoo: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm.../ap/20050328/ap_on_re_as/indonesia_earthquake EDIT: MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7316846/
What was it last time? It is on top of the CNN web page. Hopefully they are prepared this time around.
MSNBC TV is doing something on it now. How long does it take the waves to get to land, if that happens?
One guy said that there would be no way to get word to some of the villages in time. I think it's also late night or early morning there unlike last time.
It's been almost 45 minutes and we still don't know if there is a wave or not. And we are the informed ones. This is another disaster waiting to happen. But I hope not.
If this one goes from 8.2 to 11.0 I think part of the coast around that area will fall into the ocean. 11.0 is like 1000 times stronger than 8.0
Keep the updates coming guys. I'm at school, and have no real source other than the computer. Thanks.
it uses a base-10 system 11.0 is 10x stronger than a 10, 100x stronger than a 9 and then a 1000x stronger than an 8
No I believe it is a factor of 10 for each increase in the whole number count. so 8 X10 =9 X 10 = 10 X 10 = 11.
