Just caught the tail end of a report on 610AM (Kenny Hand Report). Apparently, and I quote from memory a) Ken Lay (Enron) has pledged money and support(again) to keep Rockets in Houston b) Drayton MacLean has joined the fight, saying "he will do whatever it takes to keep the Rockets in houston" c) The Rockets have said "their main focus is Houston right now and they have stopped looking at other cities" Like I said, it is uncomfirmed and I only heard the end of the report.
Last night on the news I heard someone with the Astro's organization (the name escapes me ) say the same thing about giving the Rockets all of their support. I wonder if the part about not looking at other cities is true. If it is , then I wonder who is going to meet with the mayor of Las Vegas in 2 days? Maybe Washington.......
True, Enron is behind the Rockets staying in Houston. There was a big press conference, Ken Lay and Drayton were there, but the big absense from all of this? The big cheese himself, Les Alexander. I don't know if he is afraid of coming down with BudAdamitis or what, but he sure has been quiet lately. It looks as if this whole thing is going to be up to the fans. -Turbo ------------------ BTW doesn't this belong in the SOR thread?
That is an interesting point, Turbo. From what I understand, George Postolos is the guy that does all the details up until the final negotiations, so Les need not necessarily be here. There are some who think that he is a detriment to the cause, but I have no idea if that is the case. Probably, Les is just tending to his other business. ------------------ "Society always honors its live conformists and its dead non-conformistis."
