But but, I was told that there were no guns and as a result it wasn't a violent insurrection. This peaceful patriot, hopefully soon to be hostage, didn't go on the correct tour...

I don't feel very comfortable with the denial of bail to some J6 defendants. The answer is not to also deny bail to someone accused of involuntary manslaughter. It's easier to make the argument that someone who pre-planned violence and then assaulted cops is a threat to the community then it is for someone who committed a crime by negligence.

I’ve been leery of the doing away with cash bail and I think this is or if those pieces of social engineering that needs to be looked at much more carefully.

Bail should be on a case by case basis rather than blanket policy.

This past week Trump and his supporters have been repeating messages about how unfair the justice system is to them and that they are just like black Americans who have been treated unfairly. Many of them including Trump have previously though supported law enforcement in very questionable cases where black men were involved. Trump even said that LEOs should rough up suspects and many of those now claiming they are just like poor black men treated poorly defended LEO handling of cases like George Floyd, Eric Garner and other situations.

Trump immunity claim taken up by Supreme Court, keeping D.C. 2020 election trial paused

    By Melissa Quinn, Robert Legare
    Updated on: February 28, 2024 / 5:04 PM EST / CBS News

Washington — The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it would decide whether former President Donald Trump is entitled to broad immunity from federal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts that occurred while he was in office.

The order from the high court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, marks the second time in a month that the justices will weigh a case with tremendous implications for the former president. In this dispute, the Supreme Court will consider whether the prosecution of Trump can move forward, or whether he is shielded from criminal liability.

The court has never before decided whether a former president is immune from criminal liability for allegedly illegal acts committed while in office. Trump is the first former president to be indicted, and he has pleaded not guilty.

A three-judge panel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rejected Trump's claim of sweeping immunity. He then asked the Supreme Court to put that decision on hold and allow him time to seek review from the full appeals court.

Anyone who thought they’d stand aside on this issue was deluding themselves about what the Supreme Court is today.

Just another fool who was brainwashed into charging and fighting to overturn the election for that sociopathic loser who still walks free.

Trump fan who assaulted officers with a hockey stick on Jan. 6 sentenced to prison

Donald Trump enthusiast who believed the former president's lies about the 2020 election was sentenced on Wednesday to more than three years in federal prison for assaulting law enforcement officers with a hockey stick during the brutal battle at the lower west tunnel of the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 attack.

If Trump gets Presidential immunity then the Supreme Court has advocated for a dictator. Biden could round up Trump and execute him. If he wasn't impeached by the House and found guilty by the Senate, he couldn't be tried in court. I know this is far-fetched, but what happens? Does every potential crime committed by the President go to the courts to see if it is covered by Presidential immunity?

With scum like Alito and Ginny---er, Clarence Thomas on the bench, and three justices owing their jobs to Trump, and all the burner-phone calls made behind the scenes, and all these different courts having dragged their feet too long to start trials, and Biden appointing Merrick Too-Cautious Garland to AG when Garland felt he had to tiptoe anyway lest he look politically motivated.......something SCOTUS has no queefs or qualms about.

Now Biden pretty much has to win, period. Because even if SCOTUS rules as it should, all the trials will be delayed so that if Trump wins they all go away. And we have an American Putin.

The SCOTUS slow walked their decision to take this case.

The SCOTUS will have their first hearing in two months.

The SCOTUS could then take months to decide.

The stayed trial will take 6-8 weeks to get started after the SCOTUS decides, if they decide that Trump is not immune.

The SCOTUS knew the implications, so they are complicit if Trump trail get delayed past the election.
