Can anyone give the breakdown of tiebreakers between us and the teams close to us? GS Seattle (We do?) Minny (They do?) Boston So far, we can be pretty sure we're going to finish higher in the lotto standings than Minny, since we'll lose out. But what about the rest of the teams? What are the tiebreak rules? I'm not up on this. Thanks
Apparently it's a random coin flip, but the teams would split the lotto balls evenly. Here are the details in this post: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2281193&postcount=2
Well, I'll assume you won't want to dig through the "Mission Critical: Losing Every Game Left" to find out what the tiebreakers are, so I'll just state it again: Lottery tiebreakers are essentially coinflips between teams with identical records. For example, if we happen to tie with Minnesota for the 8th spot, we'll flip a coin, and the winner gets the higher draft spot and 23 lottery balls, while the loser has 22 lottery balls. In the second round, the picks are reversed, with the loser getting the higher pick. In the case of a 3 way tie, they could use a mini lottery, with 3 balls or something. If, for example, we tie with Boston and Minnesota for 7th worst, the winner would have 30 balls, while the other two would have 29. Thus, we have no advantage over any other team, except for our basic win-loss record. The draft site I got this from is down now; I might have broken it by linking to it earlier...
Thanks for the info. I guess all we need to do, then is lose and be happy! I'll stop worrying about the other teams then!!
