Brazil Stiffs Obama on Oil Deal, Exposing President's Incompetence
By Mark Whittington Sat, Jan 21, 2012

President Barack Obama has suffered the second embarrassment over oil imports within the space of a week. Brazil, whose offshore deposits of oil were sought by the Obama administration, has signed contracts with China for the product.

    *CLIP*

Obama went to Brazil last month to put in a bid for the oil, offering loans and other support to develop the oil in an "environmentally responsible matter," The Hill reported at the time. Republicans criticized that initiative, pointing out Obama has placed roadblocks in the way of domestic development of oil and gas reserves.

Brazil's decision comes on the heels of Obama's refusal to permit the building of the Keystone XL pipeline to bring oil from Canada's tar sands in Alberta to Texas oil refineries, according to the Los Angeles Times.

    *CLIP*

Obama's policy in regard to oil and gas has been a study in incompetence driven by an ideological mania against hydrocarbon fuel in favor of more politically correct forms of energy production. This has not only led to what amounts to a campaign against oil and gas production in the U.S., but embarrassing scandals such as Solyndra, brought on by unwise federal loan guarantees to dubious green energy companies.

Firstly Obama visited Brazil in March last year, not last month as said in the article. And secondly, I don't see ANYBODY making a fuss about this being embarrassing to Obama, do you know why? Because it isn't. Business is business, and if the Chinese could offer better terms than the US, then fair enough, Brazil takes the Chinese deal. The Chinese will go to any lengths for a secure supply of oil, and nations like Brazil are eager to forge stronger ties with the new power in the east, so the Chinese-Brazilian deal already has elements the US cannot possible match.

And my god, what kind of reporting is 'a study in incompetence driven by an ideological mania against hydrocarbon fuels'? Do the editors have any standards?

You're cherry-picking 3rd-rate news "sources" to back up your monolithic political ideology. It's really just an op-ed.

How about I use info from the Village Voice or the International Socialist to refute all this? Oh, yeah, because I'm not out on the fringe.

You conservative hard-liners, you do believe what you believe, don't you? And yet you can't even field a strong candidate to get that socialist scumbag appeaser out of the White House.

Sarah Palin a Modern Cold War Hero in the Making

    From the article:

COMMENTARY | It is considered unusual for a former governor who holds no public office and is not currently running for another to have a foreign policy adviser. But Sarah Palin, not known for being conventional, has chosen Peter Schweizer for that job.

Obama has been so detrimental to the oil economy that Houston was just rated the best job market in the country.

Way to go Obama ...it's your fault.

Texxx, you continue to lose with all of your egotistical, incompetent ideas. You are so desperate for a decent president and person to leave the White House that you can barely contain yourself. It's not happening.

Being a conservative is one thing. Being an extreme conservative that is a clone of the detriment that "your guys" have caused to Americans through the inability to compromise is another.

So, here we have to bringing up a mediocre article about oil and try to label Obama as incompetent.

I think you're depressed that Obama has done a decent job of cleaning up the mess your dying party left under W.

It's like an episode of Hoarders. Your republican boys have buried the country in debt and conflict, and when someone with a rational mind comes in with ideas and plausible solutions, you have a breakdown because you know that you are losing control.

If you think Romney is going to save your party, good luck with that.

I can't wait to see Romney fold under the pressure of being a leader. As we know, he never has been one anyway.

This is truly high comedy coming from an Obama supporter.

Obama never even held down a job before he was president! He was a community organizer!

That has more to do with (1) oil and (2) the general crappiness of the job market.

Not saying he's been detrimental, just saying that's probably not a good measure of Obama's effect on oil economy.
