I'm currently working to enforce stricter safety constraints on American toy companies that are turning a blind eye towards quality control in the Chinese factories they use. so at least i'm trying to use my law degree for some good.

but it's usually a lot more fun to focus on the bad stuff lawyers do.

Not a bad patriotic song, certainly better than any entry in the genres of hip hops and punk rocks I could imagine.

But here's the thing, Sam. I distinctively recall you are not particularly religious (that's to put it mildly, you may well be an outright atheist), but unless you've been converted to some kind of a born-again recently, is the title "God Bless the USA" meant to be a mockery of God or the USA the way you promote it?

I grew up next door to Racehorse Haynes out on Overcup Drive in Memorial. I peed on a tree in his yard when I was two or three years old... right in front of his wife.

Pfft, pathetic "human rights" groups think now that they have any influence on our policy? What a joke.

Nice try, but we shall not turn the focus onto petty theological matters, we are discussing something far more important, namely the tireless efforts of a young attorney to take on the political whims of the CCP and shine a spotlight on their misdeeds to help a friend - and against all odds he prevailed. That reminds me of another song.

I have a feeling that this thread is just the beginning. Beijing 2008 will shine a harsh light in dark places.

Katrina. Guantanamo Bay. CIA prisons in Eastern Europe. Abu Ghraib. That's just the **** that happened during this administration. Need I go back to the Cold War?

Your country's dark places have already been revealed. Clean up your house before criticizing others.

Why don't we clean out both houses at the same time.

If a man is unjustly imprisoned in China, it makes it less unjust because another man is unjustly imprisoned somewhere else?

I don't find this proposition logical.

Turn onto petty theological matters? LOL ... Sammy, you pooped on your own thread, I am here to steer clear you from moral ambiguity. But I digress ...

The efforts may be commended, but I am not sure they matter that much. For one, his buddy was clearly in violation of Chinese law by sneaking into PRC with an invalid passport. Is the 5-year imprisonment too harsh for the crime? Maybe, but if it's stipulated in the penal code, then his buddy has nobody to blame but himself. Secondly, the idea that the campaign led by the younger lawyer helped pressure PRC to release his partner in crime is laughable. The guy was released only when his jail term expired, simple as that. To credit him with something he had no control of whatsoever is no different from to claim SamFisher of CF.net is the leading cause for Rockets winning their 07-08 NBA championship. Simply laughable.

    LAUGHABLE.

I have to wait until I go back home to see what this song is all about. I sure hope it's as amusing (I am talking 'bout the effect) as the first one you put up there.

I feel your predicament, Sam. All dark places shall be lit up. Incidents like Atlanta Olympic Park bombing in 1996 Summer Olympics shall be prevented at all cost. Agree? You Uyghur friends in Xinjiang may need to behave, ya know.

Well, Ginseng Yang, you may want to look into the plight of Palestinians at the hands of Israeli occupiers. You understand the Palestine-Israel conflict has been the mother of all evils in the last half century, don't you?

In this puffed up display of bravado, I sense you QUAKING at the power of the determined American legal counselor, which spans the earth and even can bring the powerful CCP to its knees.

Not sure why this is an issue, they have been crushed under the heel of the mghty CCP boot, I doubt they are capable of even buying a train ticket to Beijing. Anyway, if you are asking in retrospect if I wish the US authorities had paid greater attention to right wing fanatics like Eric Robert Rudolph, who was responsible for the ATL bombing- I wish they had.

why stop there when I can go after heart disease, the #1 killer known to man? Besides, anytime an American touches that conflict it just gets worse. I don't even know how this conversation started mr. pms.
