anyone know of any meat markets in houston that sells authentic bratswurst? wanna put some on the gril for the 4th. the johnsonville brand is ok but rather have the real stuff.
Heh, it seems to me that sometimes, the best stuff is found when you are traveling on the highways and you find those gas stations/meat markets.
Boar's Head Brand has a slightly better brat, but you'll have to pay a little more for it. They also have good kraut. I know Kroger carries BH, and I think Randalls does as well (I know they used to). It's usually with the deli meats not the meat counter. Simmer them in a mixture of beer and chopped onions for 20 min and they're ready for the Grill!
Another vote for Central Markup. Never got any at Whole Paycheck before, but I imagine they're just as good.
ive got some Brats from whole foods in the fridge right now.. they're awesome if you poke some holes in em and poor on a bottle of hefeweizen.. easier to do that on a stove top though. mmm.. beer brats..
Spot on, because the skunky beer always works best. Although I have gotten yelled at for "wasting" a Heineken while making a brat.
Weizen is a better cooking beer i think.. i would never use a heineken though.. usually the preservatives in beers like that don't cook up real well. I think i'm going to make some tonight, in fact. Have to decide between using Franziskaner and Saint Arnold weizen though. Mmm.. skunky.
you know your a Dad of a young girl who is obbessed when you see the word Brats and instantly think the conversation is about: cuz it's what you hear about non-stop anytime we're at Wal-Mart or Target
I had something called Johnsonville. Bleh. Edit - I see you mentioned it in your post. Hah. I need to slow down.
I saw the title of this thread and I immediatly thought of my daughters toys, shoes, coloring books, etc.
