Heh, it seems to me that sometimes, the best stuff is found when you are traveling on the highways and you find those gas stations/meat markets.

Distence...try Whole Foods or Central Market. They make their own.

Boar's Head Brand has a slightly better brat, but you'll have to pay a little more for it. They also have good kraut. I know Kroger carries BH, and I think Randalls does as well (I know they used to). It's usually with the deli meats not the meat counter. Simmer them in a mixture of beer and chopped onions for 20 min and they're ready for the Grill!

I don't know the exact name, but I've seen some Brenham Sausages at Randall's. They were damn tasty.

Another vote for Central Markup. Never got any at Whole Paycheck before, but I imagine they're just as good.

Spot on, because the skunky beer always works best. Although I have gotten yelled at for "wasting" a Heineken while making a brat.

Weizen is a better cooking beer i think.. i would never use a heineken though.. usually the preservatives in beers like that don't cook up real well. I think i'm going to make some tonight, in fact. Have to decide between using Franziskaner and Saint Arnold weizen though. Mmm.. skunky.

Say what you will, I've always found Shlitz to be the best cooking beer. It's the kiss of the hops!
