Burned the Suns for a career best 52 points tonight. I know Brandon Roy gets a lotta lovin from this board and the league in general and rightfully so. I've watched him since day 1 and I never knew he'd turn out to be this good. He has taken his game to another level this year from an amazing rookie campaign and sophomore season. This year he's literally carrying the Blazers and dominates in the 4th quarter. I think he may be on the way to Elite Superstar status (Kobe, LBJ, CP3, Wade) etc if he continues this trend. I think the next step is leading the Blazers to the playoffs and showcasing his skills there. Tonight's line: 52 points on 14-27 shooting, 19-21 FTM/FTA, 5 boards and 6 dimes. Incredibly efficient. Also the first player to reach 50 this season. Most importantly he led them to victory.
I'm signing. Got love for Roy. When a player is approaching what Brandon Roy is, I don't think anyone can honestly say they thought he was going to be this good, unless they make a lot of false predictions. Oh by the way Tony Parker dropped 55 earlier this season.
Actually Tony Parker was the first player to drop 50+(55) this eason.. http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200811050MIN.html
Oh yah I totally forgot about that Tony Parker performance. I think he got injured like a game after that and kinda flew under the radar. Back to Roy.... B.Roy is the shiznit. Never liked a non-Rocket player more. Even with his cold blooded dagger back a month ago.
I have a lot of respect for this guy. The way he commands for the ball toward the end of the game and also converting that to points is huge. Aside from the obvious talent he has in scoring, I like how he carries himself, keeps his mouth shut and does the talking by taking it to the hole. Seems like a humble fellow.
Both my son and I have been huge Roy fans from the start. Along with LeBron, Wade and KD, Roy is in my top 4 favorite players in the NBA. I think this is the first time he's blown up on national TV, but most people on the east coast probably didn't stay up until 1:00 am to see the finish. Not only is he talented, but he is a leader, the heart and soul of the Blazers team. Roy has helped Nate McMillan turn from being Sarge into being Coach. McMillan has never trusted a player like he does Brandon Roy and the Blazers are better for it. They are so fun to watch. I confess to sometimes viewing Blazers games (partial screen, muted) while I watch the Rockets. I dream of Tracy McGrady playing offense like Roy does.
I love that guy, he is my favourite except the Rox. What a pity, we had the chance to get Roy in year 2006, but we didnt..
Once upon a time, my friend. I wish T-Mac nowadays played more like Roy does. Roy has a terrific shot selection for a star player and he's fearless. I mean he was driving everything to the basket, forcing the issue and getting many calls, and then knocking down the FTs. Those days are long gone for T-Mac. But i'm happy if he's efficient enough until the playoffs, and then turns it up. As for Roy, good luck to him. He's been given the pieces, he just needs to help them grow, and fit them all together. He's the perfect man for the job. In terms of demeanor and attitude, he's very similar to Tim Duncan.
We would have never got Dream if we hadn't tanked. SA wouldn't have got Duncan if they hadn't tanked. Tanking = championships.
Remarkable, I always felt he would be a success but more like a 3rd scorer on a strong team. He has exceeded all expectations. He isn't just a scorer,he can handle the ball, pass and play defense.Above all he is a leader at a young age.
I agree. Brandon Roy IMO is walking towards the Steve Nash road, only difference is he is a scoring machine instead of a passing one. That being said, it also means he will need a lot of good role players to succeed. Though I have to say Roy might just be breaking that wall completely this season.
I ain't gonna show no love for him, every time I saw his face,I recalled the game we supposed to win but at last we did lose to 'em by 1 owing to the scorekeeper cheating. Anyways, great job done by B-Roy,his career night against the Suns earned himself a lil bit love from me.52 points, that's remarkable.
Except Roy has passing skills as well. The Blazers have become an exciting team to watch, though it should be obvious to most
I think he did a lot to help us lose that game. I mean, he did give Juwan Howard the final shot. Who the hell thought his ass would hit it? Oh yeah, he's cursed.
