from www.nba.com NEW YORK, April 20 — Elton Brand of the Chicago Bulls and Steve Francis of the Houston Rockets today were named co-winners of the Schick Rookie of the Month award for April. Brand, the winner of the monthly award for January and February this season, averaged 24.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.91 blocks per game in April while playing an average of 39.5 minutes. The 6-8 rookie scored a career-high 44 points with 12 rebounds and three blocks in a 109-103 loss to Washington on April 13. He also had a strong performance in a 100-93 win over New Jersey (April 11) with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Francis Francis, who garnered Rookie of the Month honors for December and March, averaged 20.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.30 steals per game in April in 39.6 minutes per game. Francis' top performances for the month included 30 points, five assists and four rebounds in a 102-100 loss to Vancouver (April 4) and 31 points, seven assists and six rebounds in a 119-116 win at Seattle. ------------------ Thanks Hakeem for all the memories and the 2 championships...
