http://www.killermovies.com/m/missionimpossible4/articles/6524.html What do you guys think about this? And why do people dislike MI:3? I thought it was entertatining...
That is complete BS. MI3 was great. Ethan Hunt is MI. I am going to boycott this movie... ...for about a day and then pay my 8 bucks to see it.
Don't see how you switch out Cruise in a franchise like that. Of course, I haven't watched any of them yet, and probably won't see the 4th one either, whether it has Pitt or Cruise.
I believe he had a falling out with the studio because he went on public TV and acted like an idiot in an interview with Matt Lauer followed by jumping on a couch at Oprah's place. I think Tom Cruise is starting his own "Impossible" movies starting with "Baby Impossible I: Chop Sura".
I think it is ridiculous how people crucify tom cruise. *note*I think Scientology is wacky I mean you have Angelina and Billy Bob storing files of each other's blood in around their neck but people only see how much they are in love You have Brad leave Jennifer for Angelina who he supposedly was cheating with Plus all the alcohol, cocaine, drunk driving things we hear about but all everyone does is hate on Cruise. I am not on his nuts but it just seems dumb after a while. I mean they made such a big deal he bought a sonogram machine. Big deal, he owns a 40 million dollar plane, I think he can shell out some dough on random splurges. Plus he donated it to a hospital when he was done. No one mentions that ever. PS. I am not gay.
Let Brian DePalma direct it again (he did the first one... which was the only one I found watchable). The third one was saved by Philip Seymour Hoffman, who probably could make a weekend at bernies movie look oscar-worthy, with his brilliant acting (who still remembers him as the fat guy from twister?). They need more espionage, gadgets, and PLOT... less action, masks, love story, and scientology.
Some thoughts: 1) Only the first MI was any good. 2) John Woo killed the franchise. 3) Pitt is an okay actor but he - like Cruise - can only play certain roles with credibility I still like Tom Cruise, and will watch his movies. He has lost the plot a little, but I suspect it's a mid-life crisis or something. All the hate is just herd mentality. I am not gay either
I know I'm in the minority but I liked MI-1 the least. I think with each movie the franchise has gotten better.
i can understand people giving him crap for scientology but i don't understand the criticism of him "going crazy" on Oprah. if the guy truly loves his girl that much, who are we to say how he celebrates it. when you're in love, no one acts the same way. and i still think he's a great actor.
have you seen Cruise in Magnolia. forget the ending of that movie and just watch Cruise. i think it's one is his most underrated performances.
Oh I think he's a good actor, no doubt. His role in Magnolia was well-played and surprisingly un-Cruise, but part of a very solid ensemble cast nonetheless. Pretty interesting performance in Interview with the Vampire, too. However, he seems to pick (and excel in) mainly one type of leading role - the young, cocky and brash hero who matures over the course of the film. It's a winning formula for him.
MI3 was my favorite out of all of 'em. But I think Brad Pitt will do a good job in the next one. If this is true..
I almost agree with you; though I enjoyed 3, I wasn't a big fan of 2. I like John Woo, but 2 was the weakest of the three movies IMO.
i really liked M:I:III. it was pretty much what i thought it would be. tons of action spaced out by more action with cool stunts strewn throughout. it did fairly well at the box office (and was huge internationally) and not only has solid ratings on imdb (6.8) and rottentomatoes (71 critics, 85 users), but, they are the highest ratings of any of the three M:I movies so i don't see how it gets beat up on so often while M:I 1 is loved on so much. apparently, people really liked both of them. cruise seems like the perfect guy for the M:I movies as he seems to excel at this type of action. for some reason, pitt just doesn't seem like an action star (at least the action and stunts you see in these movies) even though he's a really good actor and obviously in really good shape. like one thing ethan hunt is always doing is running, and as weird as it is to say, cruise does a really good run. maybe it's because he's short and that makes his legs move faster, but it always looks like he's flying along whatever his actual speed is. but if they feel cruise's antics are hurting the box office, at least domestically, too much, then maybe they felt they had to make the change. of course nothing cruise ever does seems to fail at the box office so maybe that's not the best rationale. WHAT??!!! that's philip seymour hoffman? holy crap. i guess 10 years ago i was 14 and had no idea who he was so i never connected it later on. that seems crazy to think that's him in that movie.
No! Tom Cruise is great in the role of MI series. MI3 was my favorite. I don't understand why they have to fix something thats not broken.
