So, I've had braces for a little over four years now, and I'm getting them off the 8th of September, but not with the treatment completed. I was wondering if anyone has gotten Invisalign, or any of these iBraces? If anyone has any other ideas, or anything, please feel free to share.
Don't go with Invisialign. They don't straighten your teeth out as well as conventional braces do. Source: I have regular braces and I have friends with Invisalign whose teeth just look okay after treatment was over. Plus, my orthodontist told me straight up that he would recommend regular braces over invisalign
how long does the treatment take? my wisdom teeth started pushing a few years back in college. now it's a bit uncomfortable. so i was thinking about getting braces too. but yuck, it's going to be ugly.
Couple points. First, it depends on what type of tooth movement you need to get to the point where all your teeth are perfectly aligned. Braces have a wider range of treatment than invisalign, but that doesnt mean that invisalign cant get you almost perfect results. Invisalign can, however, treat a lot of different conditions and it can do so very well...its up to the patient to religiously wear the trays or else treatment will not be as precise as planned. Secondly, an orthodontist will definitely recommend braces over invisalign. You know why? Because orthodontists are basically the only dentists that provide the service of braces. General dentists can do invisalign. Heck, Im a 4th year dental student and I already have my invisalign certification (of course, cant begin performing it until I have my degree in hand). However, point being that invisalign has taken away business from orthodontists, so it is in their best interests to promote braces over invisalign.
Treatment completely depends on your current arrangement of teeth. It can be 4 mo...it can be 1.5 years. It is all based on how much movement needs to be made for you to have "straight" teeth. Wisdom teeth do not cause tooth movement...many people believe that they "push" all the other teeth. You should look into removing those 3rd molars if you havent already. They really serve no benefit and they can and will cause some problems down the line. Get them yanked.
invisalign is not invisible, its actually very visible, and it'll look like you coat your teeth butter but..... with invisalign, you are able to take off (though painfully) the cover and enjoy good eats and good kisses
That makes sense. Although the good thing I heard about Invisalign is that you don't really have to worry about going in to get them "tightened" and that can be painful at times.
Let me rephrase that: Yeah, kind of embarrassing to cut the (my) girlfriend's lip because my braces got caught...
All the time. I remember when I had my braces, I never looked forward to getting them things tightened.
There is this cute chick I saw at Gamestop with braces the other day. I might have to get her number when I go back.
I had braces a long time ago. Didn't wear my retainers, and my lower teeth were collapsing. Got invisalign. The top teeth took only 2 months to fix. Bottom teeth took about 14 months. Only people who knew I had invisalign (or people who got up close) could tell. I kept the invisalign trays clean. It didn't hurt to take them out to eat, like someone else said.. so maybe that depends. My teeth are just as straight as they were when I got my braces off. Like someone else said--Invisalign can work just as well--it all depends on what kind of movement is needed and how much space is there (or how much space they can make with "slimming" or whatever). Go to a good ortho that you trust. You have to be disciplined with Invisalign. If you don't wear them day and night (aside from eating), your teeth can shift pretty quickly. And since you can take them out anytime, if you're not disciplined, you may wear them less than you should. That can have ramifications on your teeth come 15 years later because they won't have been set in your mouth properly.
Whoa, I never thought about that, she might not even be 18. Man I hope Chris Hansen doesn't show up at my house.
