The upcoming Western road trip is a trial of maturity. The Rockets have shown glimpses of Smart and flashes of Stupid. In the midst of a renewed playoff run (I thought they were done a couple of weeks ago) they have a rare opportunity, GROW UP, QUICK!!! Against the backdrop of the sobering reality of Rudy's health problems and the fact that the playoffs are possible, it is time for this team to show themselves and everyone else what they are made of. They will either grow up in this week and become MEN, or they will "out" themselves as BOYS. I can hardly wait to seen which it is. If they are MEN, they will play tough, smart, and hard. It is time for the best basketball of the season. Hey Rockets, Is It In You?
Why the ultimatum? You have a bunch of 20-27 year old kids trying to make the playoffs. They've got at least 2-4 years to worry about becoming "men". That being said... I hope they show themselves to be worthy of being in the playoffs.
Two to four years? Why not now? The playoffs are within grasp. This is the next step. Take it! It is true that we are likely not going to get past the Mavs or Spurs. BUT,giving them a nice series would set the tone for next year. This team is very immature mentally, they need to break through, NOW! No ultimatum, just fact. If they whimp out and blow this opportunity, it is going to be a very long summer and an uncertain fall. A break through now could be critical to the future of this team. Dr. of Dunk, I'm surprised you don't agree.
