I was watching the local news tonight here in Minneapolis and in sports they led off with the Wild vs Edmonton Oilers hockey game with highlights and comments from the coach, then a complete roundup of today's highschool state basketball tournament, then a funny play by Livan Hernadez at Twins' Spring training (on a grounder back up the first base side of the infield he kicked the ball into Nick Punto's glove) then finally as almost an afterthought they mentioned. The T-Wolves got beat by the Houston Rockets. The sportscaster introduced it like this: "The Houston Rockets are one of the best teams in the West and the T-Wolves season will be over soon." They showed two highlights one of Kirk Snyder dunking and then one of T-Mac. You know your team sucks when out of two highlights they show one of the opponents...
wierd... i thought they played well. if brewer lives up to his billing, they are going to be good next season
I'm not sure about next season, but the T-Wolves have a decent future. One key to them turning it around is a new coach. They will never do well until Wittman is gone.
It is ironic that they actually played somewhat decent last night but I think they've almost totally lost their local fan base. I wasn't commenting so much on how they played but more on that they aren't getting any respect even with their local media.
No respect but at least more coverage. When the Vikings and Twins suck they will still lead off the sports section on game days.
You know, after watching them last night, I'm starting to believe they didn't get a bad trade out of KG. Al Jefferson continues to improve and maybe even as soon as next season, could be a close duplicate of KG's skills with a much lower salary and younger legs.
Can't expect a neutered TPups team to lead over the Wild in the midst of a playoff race. Especially given the support the Wild gets over there. They should be ahead of high school bball though.
Try it up here in Canada. The first 20 minutes of the sports news are hockey, a whole league roundup. The Raptors get some play, and about only 50% of the NBA's games that night even get mentioned.
