Ugh. That's all I gotta say about this fight. Pac will rip Mosley's old ass up. This'll be an easy paycheck for both, but it disgusts me as a fight fan. I wanna see Pacquaio vs. Marquez, Mayweather, Maidana or Khan. I'll watch him go up another weight class. But Mosley?! Ugh. Arum is a money hungry buffoon who's gonna tire Manny out and waste his talent and time fighting half ass fighters and settling for half ass paper rather than really working hard at making the Mayweather thing work or set up a Marquez fight. But Manny's gotta have some decision making say in it....as ****ty as it is, I'm beginning to buy into the small contingent who believe Manny has more then a little creative control on his match selection and is refusing to fight both Mayweather and Marquez (via various differing reasons, not publicly of course) becuase frankly he's afraid of losing. #endrant Plus seems like Mosley is no longer Golden Boy affiliated: It seems as though Mosley's days with Golden Boy are over. Under the terms of his deal with Golden Boy he will have to sell back his 4 percent stake in the company for $1,000, although they could wind up in court. Mosley was upset that Golden Boy was pushing Marquez, another Golden Boy fighter, to get the fight instead of him, so he went out on his own to secure the fight. -- Shane Mosley on facing Manny Pacquiao in a welterweight fight on May 7. Mosley said although he owns a piece of the company, his promotional agreement is long over and he felt he was within his rights to try to secure the fight without Golden Boy's approval since it is no longer his promoter. Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer was disappointed to hear that the deal for Pacquiao-Mosley had been made without even receiving a call from Mosley or Prince. "Good luck. He's obviously no longer part of Golden Boy. That's all I'm going to say," Schaefer said. "I wish him luck." http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=5944532
I'm actually looking forward to this fight... Mosely will get his ass handed to him. PacMan is truly the "legend's killer"...
Very lopsided bout on paper -- but... Pacquiao's obviously nearing the end of his journey and he's positioning himself to run for president of the Philippines. His political aspirations will definitely serve as a distraction, as Freddie Roach has been concerned about his focus for a while. Mosley has nothing to lose, and he'll likely come out swinging for the fences. He'll be looking for a kill-shot on the button to end it early, as he did against Mayweather. Mayweather's widely regarded as one of the finest defensive fighters in the game, and Mosley still connected early. Pacquiao should absolutely dismantle this guy, but this is setting up as a trap fight for him, and the media's going to blow his "lack of focus and political distractions" out of the water to juice up the fight. 24/7's going to highlight a solid, clean Mosley camp, and showcase a disgruntled, concerned Pacquiao corner to add as much drama as possible.
I'm with most people, not too excited about this fight. I still watch, because I'm a boxing freak and Manny always puts on a show. But honestly, besides Mayweather, there isn't much out there. Marquez apparently priced himself out. I'm not surprised, he's done it before. At this point, Pacquiao beats Marquez, handily. Berto, while young and undefeated, has yet to face any real contenders. Even struggled with a couple guys he should have beat. I also think Pacquiao wins this with no real problems. Maidana still has to get past the top competition at 140 if he even wants to think about moving up. Same for Amir. He ain't ready for Pacquaio. Plus, they're sparring partners and have the same trainer so this fight won't happen. I believe Amir himself said he would never fight Manny. They've already stated they won't be going any higher than weltweight (Mosley fight @ 147, no catchweight) so that rules out Sergio Martinez and Paul Williams. Manny has done more than enough, no need to risk moving up and getting knocked out by true middleweights. Mosley, is well, Mosley. Mosley looked like crap in his last two fights. Mainly because he fought against two defensive fighters. Manny isn't a defense first fight so Shane and Manny's style match up very good. Mosley is also stronger and faster than Margarito so it should be a bit more competitive. But I see Manny winning big but Shane could hurt Manny. If Margarito could, I don't see why Shane can't. In the end, Manny is doing his best Mayweather impression and taking on the "big money" fight. I'll take this as another tuneup fight for hopefully a Mayweather showdown. Look at it this way, Mosley was the crappiest fight out there so this one gets rid of that. After the Mosley fight, all the Marquez, Bertos, Bradleys and Alexanders will be there so there is no way Manny's next fight after Shane will be a dud.
I'll watch it. Would love to see him fight Mayweather, but when Floyd doesn't even respond to their inquiries it's kind of hard to blame Manny's camp for that.
Mosley is not as slow as Margie was. I'm not saying Mosley is clearly going to win this but he's got more meat than the previous fights or opponents of Manny. It won't be easy.
mayweahter ducking pacman pacman is ducking Andre Berto, Sergio Martinez, Paul Williams and Juan Manuel?
They're giving Mosley 5 million for this crap, they didn't offer Marquez that much so I don't know how he priced himself out. Obviously Pacquiao is a huge favorite against either, but Marquez has the style and skills to make Pacquiao look bad. Mosley is a punching bag at this point.
