Thanks for bringing this up, otherwise I would have missed it. I haven't been keeping up with boxing lately. I am going to a concert tomorrow night, hopefully their undercard is long enough I can still get back to catch the main event.
DVR, man. Thanks for the heads up. I am throwing a party for my little girl, but hope to be able to have some fools here to watch the match together.
yall missed a great/entertaining fight i suggest you watch next week on HBO or download ASAP both fighters bloodied and they almost drew again
The fight itself was pretty entertaining. It went the distance and a split decision that was somewhat controversial. However as a Pacquio fan, I wasn't that impressed by him. I think this was one of his worst fights. Marquez pretty much controlled the pace of the fight. If it wasn't for that one knock down by Pacman, Marquez would've won. Now that Pacquio should be moving up a weight class, I have questions and concerns. He still has that powerful left but we'll see how he takes the blows from the bigger fighters. Marquez got him cut up pretty good. I give Pacman credit to his Cutman - he patched him up real good and stopped the bleeding for a couple of rounds. Interestingly enough, that cut on Marquez's eye was NASTY! What concerns me is that he trained in LA for 8 weeks before the fight yet he almost lost. Could you imagine what would've happened had he trained back in the Philippines with all the distractions? I'm glad he came out to the song Black Eyed Peas "Bebot" instead of the song he recorded and sang. That song is gay. Anybody catch Apl from BEP at ringside with him? Anyways, a win is a win I guess.
I wonder where Marquez goes from here. The guy is a great boxer, highly skilled and intelligent, yet he cant seem to catch a break. Only featherweight left worth watching besides him is Joan Guzman. And I have a feeing he would have a hard time with him. Maybe a rematch against Chris John? Or put him up against Edwin Valero? He is too old to drop down in weight to fight a Ponce De Leon or Vasquez and he isn't strong enough to move up to lightweight.
i recorded the movie. if only i know how to convert this to divx i would do it. i wasn't impressed with the way Pacman fought after the 3rd round either. I thought he kind of relaxed after the knock down. But still, I don't get that judge how he came up with 115-112 favor of Marquez. No way he could have won that match, I would understand if it was a draw again but to give him the W, that's BULL. At one point, Pacquiao couldn't see with his right eye and Marquez wasn't able to capitalize on that. Another Yahoo writer made a case that Pacquiao is on 'decline'. And that was the reason why he was favoring the Marquez. That's another stupid comment since Marquez is 5 years older than Manny.
Pacman won, but wouldn't have been suprised if it was a draw. He looked like he was going to knock him out in 3rd, but he looked slower than usual and didn't have that street fighter mentality.
I saw Pacquiao a little stronger actually. I don't think it was him being slower I just think it was Marquez controlling the fight pretty much the whole way. Also, if you noticed he rehydrated from like 129 to 145. That can't be good and could make for some "sluggishness."
