Wow. Karate chop and tackle? I detect a liberal media bias coming from the Herald!

I note how the Celtics writer made it seem like Pierce was the victim of Ron Artest in that game, considering all the punk things he did during the game. Also he claims the Celtics popularized the idea of a "Big Three." Anyone heard of the Spurs?

Pierce got smothered by Artest in the pre-season. Did you see Artest was all over him while he try to pass out to Garnett and got his pass intercepted right in his face?? Pierce was wtf is that? I don't think Pierce can do anything when Artest is guarding him...on one one matchup that is...rather than pick n roll. Pick n Roll....anybody can be exploited doesn't matter how great a defender you are.

I love Artest's response to the physical play though. Just like on his radio interview with Carmichael Dave where a caller was bashing Bill Walker and Artest defended him for picking a fight, saying that's how they do it in New York.

You gotta bring a positive attitude into those games where opponents might try to rough you up because they're not as good as you (i.e. Utah). Simply complaining to the refs ain't gonna get nothing done. Just turn the other page, stay within your game, and bring it harder the next time down.

I agree on that. One of the things Dennis Rodman was so good at was to get inside the other player's head, make him lose his cool. At the same time, he would never let the other player get into his psyche, and just wouldn't let it affect his game. There was always a " method behind the madness" as shakespeare would put it.

Spurs was like Duncan as Batman, and Manu and Parker as his two Robins. Right now Parker and Manu are equally as important as Duncan, but the trio and the team overall has fallen off a bit recently. I'd take Celtics big 3 over Spurs big 3

This is some loaded garbage. Clearly an extreme dislike for Artest.

We need to seriously take bets as to how many fights Artest gets into. ;) Houston has definitely reattained its status as the most dangerous team in the league.

If i remember, Battier defends Pierce very well ... at least I remember his fg % is always really inefficient against battier's d whereas i saw pierce score more on artest than i recall of him scoring on battier. my memory could be wrong though.

yah, i also give the credit of big 3 to Celtics instead of Spurs. In their championship runs, Spurs was known for a super star in Duncan, star in ginibo, and upcoming star in parker. They were not the same 3 known stars as Celtics.

The big 3 in celtics came from 3 players given up their superstar status and salaries (partially) in order to create the team. I also think our Big 3 is different too.

no said said anything about Jordan big 3 right? same reason.

I know what you mean about the Herald being biased here, but that's the first time I've heard anyone say liberal media bias and the Herald in the same sentence. The Boston Herald is one of the more conservative newspapers in the country being owned by Rupert Murdoch (and previously Hearst).

That said, I like how Artest knocks people down and wears the opposition down over the course of a game.

Parker was the Finals MVP in the Spurs' last championship, so he was certainly more than a rising star by then. But I'll have to agree that the Celtics Big 3 is a little better than the Spurs 3, especially on the defensive side. I was never a big fan of Paul Pierce, thought he was just a chucker and a perennial loser, but his defensive effort last season earned my respect.
