Interesting article. To me, he just defined why is different from Amare.

Chris Bosh cleared up the notion that he would automatically accept a role where he isn't the franchise cornerstone.

“That’s a good question,” Bosh said when asked by ESPN The Magazine’s Ric Bucher if he’s bothered by the widespread perception that he’s determined to follow either LeBron James or Dwyane Wade by signing on with one of the teams they choose starting July 1.

“It’s funny you say that, because I was thinking about it. I was just looking at what people say and it’s like, ‘Chris is going to go here and play with him or this, this and that.’ I’m like, ‘Wait a minute.’ I feel like I should be built around. And maybe that’s just my ego talking, but I feel that I’m a very good player in this league and I’m only going to get better. So … maybe we should be getting somebody [in Toronto].”

Bosh did acknowledge that he will consult his Team USA colleagues James and Wade, for advice if nothing else, before re-signing with the Raptors or orchestrating a sign-and-trade move elsewhere.

“There’s nothing wrong with picking each guys' brain to see where they’re at and how they feel,” Bosh said. “I think talking to other people [is something] that'll help you make your decision a little bit more.”

That's exactly the attitude I would want from a guy if I'm paying him max money. I'm sick of guys signing max contracts and then asking to be traded to better teams.

Max contract players should have max contract desire. This is the fire you want to see out of somebody if you are going to break the bank to bring him to your team. Why should he WANT to take a back seat to D-Wade or LeBron? He's a premiere big man in this league, and he should feel that teams should want to build around HIM....not use him as a second option.

He's not gonna win a championship like that, especially if he stays in Toronto.

    Thinly veiled shot at McGrady.

    He's gone, get over it.

He's telling Toronto... HEY, I'm a great player, so give me money and build around me.

Bosh won't win a ring unless he is surrounded by a very talented roster. He is KG-lite and KG couldn't win a ring without being surrounded by future HOFers.

I like his game overall but if you're throwing the ball to Bosh when you need a big bucket your team probably isn't very good.

Exactly. Right now is his opportunity to get paid, and he should take it. Guys like Adam Morrison freakin have rings.....Chris Bosh will have the chance to get one too. What those guys DON'T have is the skill to earn a multi-million multi-year deal like Bosh.

Paul Pierce and Ray Allen weren't guaranteed HOFers without KG yet KG was a lock before ever putting on a Celtic jersey. Garnett was about as successful as you could be with mediocre talent surrounding him. When other superstars (Kobe, Wade, etc) were given similar lineups they had similar success.

I don't think Bosh is much like KG other than body type. Still, he's a very good basketball player and the issues of his teammates tend to be projected onto him. He won't win a ring without a very talented roster...but how many players do?

I'd take the money man. Rings aren't worth anything except prestige. Plus unworthy players get them all the time by riding pine.

bosh makes 15 mil. he makes as much as melo. so it's not like he's making chump change.

money is nice but i'd sacrifice a couple mill to get a ring.

true that unworthy players get rings but they were non-contributors and i would like to like to be known as a guy who contributed to get my ring instead of a bench rider like gerald green or james white.

Actually, I wasn't even thinking of McGrady when I made that comment, although I do think it applies to McGrady when he was in Orlando. His situation here is different because the team no longer wants to play him.
