If you was Toronto, what would you do draft Bosh or make a Trade with the Rockets for Griffin? Also get Mobley, who you wanted anyway a few years back in free agency, Rice expiring contract, and a future first; For Antonio Davis, #4, and maybe a throw in like Morris Peterson. I think this trade will help both the Rockets, and Toronto. I also wanted to know your opinions about the Rockets 2 round pick. Before the Rockets pick, I guaranteed you there will be over 20 Euros taking before the #44 overall pick, with that being said; If the Rockets take a player from the States; It'll be like the Rockets Having like a #15 over pick in this years draft. I don't have the time; but if someone please could go to NBADRAFT.NET and go from the 1st round till when the Rockets Pick, and take out all the projected euros from the draft and see actually what number the Rockets pick if it's based on American Players it will show how deep this draft is; Even Marty Blake said that their will be Free Agents that can play in this league. Their going to be at least 1 or 2 people stock dropping in this draft. Let's hope so!
A) Morris Peterson is not a throw-in in any deal. He's not great, but he is serviceable. B) If I was the Rockets, an Morris was included, you obviously do this deal. C) If I was the Raptors, I do the deal without giving up Morris. All that said, I don't think this deal happens, but then, it may. If I'm the Rockets, I take Bosh over Ford, btw.
lots of discussion and argument re bosh griffin here: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60134
To me Bosh is a Griffin Clone with a little more Pep in his step. Where would Griffin fall; if he came on in this years draft with all that you know about Griffin with his 2 years in? He's only like 21 with 2 years of NBA Experience. He's more proven than Bosh to this point, plus to unload a big contract of Davis, get Rice to unload, next year; plus Mobley, and a Future First? Man.. You can't go wrong with this deal Toronto.
This Thread is also talking about the Rockets pick this year and also about how the Euros in this draft make it a much more deeper draft in a decade as Marty Blake has said.
Eddie showed more in his year in school than Bosh showed this year so I would assume he would go higher than Bosh if he was in this year's draft. Also, I want nothing to do with Davis, forget about his contract, he's on a sharpe decline.
Houston trades to Toronto: PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes) SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 41.7 minutes) 2nd Round Pick 2003 (#44) Houston receives from Toronto: PG Alvin Williams (13.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 5.3 apg in 33.9 minutes) PF Michael Bradley (5.0 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.0 apg in 19.6 minutes) Round 1 Pick 2002 (#4) TRADE ACCEPTED Rockets could pick up Bosh or TJ Ford or Hinrich or anyone besides the Big 3 of James, Milicic, and Anthony.
How did Michael Bradley outrebound EG? I mean, I was going to say I don't like the deal, but geez it makes you realize how much EG has underachieved, imo.
when comparing EG and Bosh, one thing I love about Bosh is that he shot 56% from the field, including 47% from the three point line last year. That's huge. I think EG shot around 41%-42% his freshman year, and unfortunately, that has translated to the pros.
On name recognition alone, you want to say "NO." They key for the Rockets of course is who they might want at the #4 pick and are they willing to give up on EG's potential and CM's relative value. The thing about Bradley is that he is more physical and he is a helluva ballhandler as I recall- kind of a PF Larry Bird I'd say. I think he is a better scorer than he has shown thus far. I would do this trade because our basketball IQ goes way up and we get the #4 pick. Toronto get's guys with a future-- no one knows how bright but definitely a future.
Looking at how a player explodes around the basket translates into scoring in the pro's also. Eddie never was a explosive player, but he's very long with his wingspan. Most times, player who are poor fg % player in college, are even worse in pro's. I would prefer Bosh, but i don't think anything will happen and I sure wouldn't trade Rice expiring contract for Davis and have 20mill worth of pf's at 1 position.
In college, NBA scouts wrote this about Eddie: "Eddie Griffin Class Freshman College Seton Hall Height 6-2 Weight 195 High School Roman Catholic Hometown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania His game is one of grace and finesse mixed with explosiveness, all molded into one slightly framed body. His leaping ability defies description, and the many blocks he garners are as much a testament to his ability to get to the place a shot is being taken as it is to his super-elevating leaps." Cbs sportsline "Griffin played one season at Seton Hall and decided he was ready for the NBA. He's an explosive scorer who should be a top-five pick in the draft, given his tremendous upside. He needs to gain some bulk and strength, but he has the skills required to be a star at the next level. Attitude will be questioned after a couple flare-ups at Seton Hall. CNNSI "I talked to Eddie and he's very excited," said Rudy T. "I also talked to Steve and Cuttino and they are very excited. [Griffin] is explosive, he's versatile, he can play a lot of positions... we couldn't be happier." cc.net
