In light of the recent Kaman and Josh Howard negotiations, 5 yrs 45 million isn't a bad deal at all for the suns.

Your link is way off the mark. Try this one: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2632613

I guess this is a good move by the Suns. If Diaw continues to develop and with Amare not looking strong, this was the safe thing. We'll see how he reacts to having guaranteed money. This guy is truly one of the most versatile players in the NBA.

Looks like the beginning of the end for the Suns.

    Are the Matrix's days numbered?

So, is this the Suns team for the next 3 years? Looks like to me they've got about $75 million in salary wrapped up in 9 players give or take a million. Is Sarver gonna take that payroll higher??????

Good deal for the Suns. I thought Diaw would get a bigger contract than that. We are talking about an up and coming big man in the NBA afterall.

The Suns have something of a situation on their hands.

Either The Matrix or Stoudemire will wind up being traded. Waaaaay too much salary handed out on that team. Three max contracts plus lots of purty-big contracts.

Solid team, though. To think: if we'd wound up with Diaw as a throw-in to some trade, would JVG have said, Hey, this guy can play any spot on the floor, he's great, or would the old JVG have surfaced: European, plays no real position on the floor....

    Diaw, Stoudemire and Marion.

    Pick the odd one out.

Hint: its not Amare or Boris.

Use a little diplomacy-you of the complex screen name.

Looks like a good signing to me. Diaw is a special player IMO.

the way Stoudamire's knees are coming around and talks of his attitude towards getting in shape have been subpar, i think the suns are gonna be stuck with a 230lb paperweight for a long time.

Alot of money for someone who has really only had one respectable year.
I'm not saying he won't earn it, I'm just saying ;)

wow... the suns are going into the luxury tax next year. They already have 67 million in salary next year wtihout this. Thats just with 9 players salaries included. Add him diaw's 8-9 million next year and that puts them at 76 million then add the first rounder and another spot to fill in the 12 man requirement you got 78 million and thats without them spending any of the MLE next season. Someone's getting shipped and my money is on raja bell, leandro barbosa, or banks.

Bell and Banks has salaries below 5 million. Someone look up how many teams have trade exceptions at the 5.2 million mark or lower. Chances are if the rockets are the only ones than we might be involved.

They let Joe Johnson go so they could keep Marion and give this guy 9 million a year........pathetic.Boris Diaw is not worth 9 mil/yr.......and now Marion might very well be gone.

Yes, of course, he was overpaid!!!!!!

Lucky for him that he stays in Phoenix, because when used any other way...he is garbage...Not like tissue garbage, but stinky pampers trash.

He proved that as an Atlanta Hawk!!

It's unfortunate that the Matrix is so unappreciated
