From ESPN: Link First Fisher's kid and now Boozer's. Must be something in the water in Utah. Hope his son's ok though.
Boozer may miss Jazz camp after son's bone-marrow transplant Associated Press SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer could miss training camp next week while his son recovers from a bone-marrow transplant in Miami. Camp starts Tuesday and runs through Oct. 6 in Boise, Idaho. As soon as my son is home from the hospital and stable, I will join my teammates," Boozer said in a statement released by the team Thursday. "Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated by me and my family during this time." Boozer averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds during the playoffs last season. "Carlos has been working out all summer in Miami. ... We are confident that when he rejoins the team he will be ready to compete," general manager Kevin O'Connor said. "Carlos needs to be with his family right now and we fully support his decision." The Jazz did not release any other information on the child. Boozer has three sons, including twins born over the summer. Utah released guard Derek Fisher so he could find another city to get treatment for a daughter who has cancer in an eye. He signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press
That's exactly the same post that I made in the Yao's Special Olympics thread. Bring your sarcasm meter and use your brain next time.
He isn't. But how difficult is it to see the sarcasm there? Why would anyone want Boozer to pay the fines because of his son's bone-marrow transplant anyway?
I didn't intend to be funny. I was trying to make a point that both Boozer and Yao has a noble cause to miss the camp. You shouldn't find it funny.
I gained a lotta respect for him as a player after the playoffs last season, he proved his metal. I hope all is well in the Boozer family...
Where were you when guys said Yao should be penalized for missing the camp for the Special Olympics? At least Justwantochill claimed to be sarcastic, the ones who said Yao should be fined were serious.
Not to pry too far into his family's personal life but it would probably help if the media was aware of his son's exact problem. Take for example the cases of Boomer Esiason, Doug Flutie and other prominent professional athletes with sick family members. The raised awareness goes a long way towards fundraising, research and what not.
