Here comes the annual Jazz tank job because of injuries. I've been expecting this. The Midwest will be Denver's for the taking. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2749476 SAT LAKE CITY -- Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer has a hairline fracture of his left fibula, an injury that usually takes 4-to-6 weeks to heal, the team said Wednesday. Boozer injured his knee on Saturday, in a collision with the New Orleans Hornets' Tyson Chandler. He sat out Monday's game against the New Jersey Nets with a bruised knee. The injury leaves first-place Utah without its leading scorer and rebounder. Boozer is averaging 22.1 points per game and 11.8 rebounds per game. He missed the first 49 games last season with a hamstring injury and the last 31 games two years ago with a strained right foot. The Associated Press contributed to this story.
Fantastic news. Now we can move in for either the 4th or 5th spot in the West, in prime position to play either the Jazz or Lakers.
Basically he has the same injury as Yao right? That's what it looked like when I saw it on tape. They said he had a "bruised knee" just like Yao...only to find out later about the fracture. Tough loss for the Jazz considering Boozer was playing well. But I dont think they will fall that quickly. Millsap is an emerging rookie and has played well. And this might give AK-47 a chance to start playing better, moving him to PF and getting a few more offensive touches.
But we can overtake based on record which would mean we would have home court advantage in the playoffs.
it's pretty similar, except Yao fractured his "Tibial plateau" which is the top part of the tibia. Boozer fractured his fibula, the smaller bone which towards the outside of the lower leg.. oh btw, GREAT NEWS!!! I know it's not nice to say this, but I am sick of us being the only team getting injured. time for some injuries to freakin Boozer, Nowitzki, Nash, and maybe Duncan and Ginobili..
I wouldn't call it the same...Yao's was behind the kneecap, whereas Boozer's is the fibula, which is lower-leg. But in the sense that they didn't know at first, you're right; however, most injuries are like that. You call it a "bruise" or a "sprain" until you know better. i.e. Jamison last night..we'll see after the MRI
Whoa. This really opens things up for us. If we take care of business, we should definitely be able to get home-court advantage in the first round. Either by taking the 5th seed and having a better record than the midwest champs, either Utah or Denver. Or by taking over the 3rd seed from the Spurs.
I want the 3rd seed. Hopefully, we slide past SA, and leave Utah and the Lakers duking it out for 6. Only 3 games between us and SA. And we haven't had Yao.
I always liked Boozer. Sad to see him go down again. On top of that no all-star appearance for Boozer now. AK now becomes less appealing to trade. Tough for Jazz fans. Luckily they along with the Mavs, Red Raiders and Braves are my most hated teams.
The tibia provides all the weight support for the lower leg. The fibula is a stabilizing bone. Yao's injury is more severe than Boozer's. Actually, you can live a normal life without a fibula, although playing basketball is probably out of the question. In fact, the fibula is often use to replace other bones that need to be removed...
Actually, I don't care whether we get the 3rd or 5th seed. If we get the 5th seed, that only sets us up for a 2nd round showdown with 1st-seeded Dallas. Fun. I'd rather meet *them* in the 2nd round than Phoenix...because I know for sure we can take them out.
The 1/2 seeds are totally up for grabs. Considering that the Suns just peeled off 17 wins in a row, and are tied with the Mavs in the loss column, there's no reason to anoint Dallas as the #1 seed.
