I am having a little problem trying to boot up the computer from recovery disc at startup. I already have Windows XP installed and I am trying to basically install a fresh copy. I went into BIOS and changed the bootup order to CD ROM first, yet for whatever reason it is not working, and instead Windows starts up anyways. Any ideas on how I can get my computer to boot up from the Windows CD? Any way I can do it manually instead of changing around the boot up order? thanks!
Oh come on! I am not that computer illiterate Mind you I just put an entire desktop together Seriously though, that is precisely the problem, I can hear the CD 'working' but I am not prompted to do anything. I am not sure why. I do know the CD ROM works, it is detected and it runs programs just fine in Windows. But I am not sure why it is not booting up from a bootable disc. That is why I am asking if I can do this manually before Windows starts loading. Should a I create a floppy diskette and see what happens?
Is the the original XP copy or you burn it onto a cd or dvd? Is it a bootable cd/dvd? You might need to burn it properly with a slower burn.
Go into your BIOS Slide over to Boot on the top. Move down to "CD-Drive" and press ENTER Move the "CD-Drive" to the top and press ENTER Press F10 (Save and Exit) Restart the computer with the CD inside.
