Does anyone watch this show? I saw it for the second time last nite and I really like it. THe episode last nite was a lot different from the first one I saw. The first one centered more on the story and what was happening. LAst nite focused on the characters themselves and how they reacted to a certain situation that happened in 1976. I like how the show looks at the story from the different perspectives and thru each of the participants eyes. It is an interesting premise. I also like the way the weave the story but at the same tim etake the content out of chronological order. They sometimes show you what happened then show you how they got to that point late rin the show. I think it is becoming my "I don't want to miss that show" of the new season. And coming on after L&O: CI make sit a good TV nite for me. CK
Last nite's was similar to a real life story from a while back. A lady is arrested for a murder of a cop that she committed in 1976. She had created another life to escape the cops, while her neighbor was wrongly convicted of being involved. The show last nite though, focused more on the relationships between characters rather than the actual crime. They showed flashbacks from the crime and also showed how the crime had affected those involved over the span of time. The episode had a very different feel to me from the other episodes I had seen. It kinda seems like I am talking to myself in this thread but I want to see if anyone else watches this show and to maybe get the word out on how good it is. It was another good episode last nite. My wife was laughing hysterically at "The Presidents" section. I personally enjoy how they wrap up comedy drama and action in each episode. THis IMO is the best new show of the year... CK
I agree. It's a pretty incredible show! I just have a feeling it might not last very long, but hopefully I'm wrong. Each episode has a better plot than most movies.
NBC is quite pleased with the results of Boomtown thus far. It has been picked up for the entire season.
I was actually pleasantly surprised. I was not expecting much from it because they had not done much with the paramedic character. I was expecting it to be like the more recent ER's that are heavy on the fanfare but lite on a good quality story (not that I don't like ER but the recent episodes have appealed more to my wife and less to me). What we got was a very entertaining show that continued to develop the characters without bringing in hokie plot lines. CK
Another good episode last night. It answered a lot of questions about the McNorris character and then opened up some others about what will happen to him next. The previews for next weeks episode looked pretty good too. CK
Is this a show you need to watch from the beginning, or is it similar to Law and Order where you can watch an episode ever so often and follow it?
It is a lot like L&O but you can really do it either way. The storylines are only for one week so you won't be missing any story details to just pick up where you want. Some of the character development happens over several episodes. You won't really be lost just may have to pick up a couple of pieces to fill in the gaps. But saying that, they usually focus on one character each week and develop the story around them. It is a different character each week. I have missed episode 1(hopefully I'll see it sunday) and one other episode but I can still easily follow what is going on. I highly reccommend it and think you will enjoy it. CK
Castor, thanks for bringing this up. Boomtown is in my top 5 along with 24, the Shield, Simpsons and Scrubs. I have watched every episode except the last one, which I have on tape. I hope I get all my new PC gear in by this weekend so I can record all of Boomtown to my PC. I don't want to record it to VCR. Then I will burn it to DVDs.
Anybody else catch the marathon. I missed the first episode (again) but saw the third for the first time. I watched various others throughout the day. The new one was good but it kinda freaked my wife out. Next weeks episode looks real good.
I caught and recorded several from the marathon. I watched almost all of them when they ran the first time. It is an excellent show. The new episode was awesome. I got my dad to watch it and he really enjoyed it. They way that they present the show is one of the best parts. I really enjoy the characters - Wahlberg, Bubba Gump, the DA from BOB, and there are usually great actors showing up each week (one time roles). I really liked the man with terminal cancer, he used to play on Hill Street Blues. The Shield, 24 and Boomtown, doesn't get any better. (for drama/action)
Yeah Joe Spano was the cancer guy. I think the snot coming out of his nose was pretty gross though. The presentation of the story is one of my favorite parts too. It is interesting since they don't just show it in real time and they also usually have some sort of comedy thing happen in each one(Doofus & the Dead Presidents). I really liked the Russian mob episode.
i can only think of a few tv shows where i've disliked the bad guys worse than i did last night on this show. wow.
