After watching IT 2 I was thinking I would like to have another King book remade. Hearts in Atlantis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearts_in_Atlantis I could possibly be a great limited series as well. I would really like to see this done on HBO or Amazon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axis_of_Time Loved these books, Have not read Stalin's hammer, i have not read an actual book in ages but I might have to start with these.
Desperation needs a proper remake, could be dark and creepy as hell, so does The Running Man. Joe Hill's The Fireman would be a good one too.
Desperation is a great one as well it actually would be #1. I don't know about Running Man I think it would be as terrible as that Total Recall remake. Have not read The Fireman.
The Dark Tower should be done like The Walking Dead. There is a lot of material to work with to fill out many seasons not one bad movie.
Kingkiller Chronicles should be made into a TV series with maybe getting someone good to fill in the Book 3 part since that may never be written.
Several sci-fi novels by Vernor Vinge -- Fire Upon the Deep, A Deepness in the Sky, The Peace War, etc. Alistair Reynolds - Revelation Space universe is amazing - would need to be a HBO type big budget series I think (too complex for a movie). Fire Upon the Deep, A Deepness in the Sky would probably be better as a series as well (Zones of Thought universe).
ive heard that there were a few attempts to do confederacy of dunces, but they didnt materialize. one was with john belushi then another with chris farley. i also heard an interview with will ferrell many years ago where he said he had read for it too. he would have had to pack on about 100 lbs to play ignacious, but he could have killed it. one of my favorite books and definitely the funniest ive ever read. and the backstory about the author is really interesting too. he committed suicide and 10 years later his mom found the manuscript for COD and got it published. id pick blood meridian by cormac mccarthy. my all-time favorite novel. it would make for a great 5 part HBO movie. but theres a few things that they couldnt film...its too f***ed up. a few years ago james franco self-financed a 20 minute treatment starring luke perry, but fortunately nobody picked it up. he would have ruined it. sadly, the best person to direct it would be mel gibson, but the whole anti-semite crazy dude thing probably wouldnt fly.
I always thought Suarez' Daemon and Freedomâ„¢ were written for the big screen. Kill Decision too. Influx could work but it would take some skill to pull off without getting corny. Still bummed that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo didn't keep going. The first one is a slow burn.... the series picks up steam for kicked the hornets nest and played with fire. I've seen the Swedish versions... they are... ok. Maybe better than ok but I still wanted to see them get made into a hollywood blockbuster.
Devolution by Max Brooks would be a fun movie and Devil in the White City would make a good miniseries. Soderbergh thinks the project is cursed, he was behind the Will Ferrell one. Would be awesome if done right, though. Everyone seems to think it's unfilmable and I can see why.
i just saw this on wikipedia...i think soderbergh is right and im glad will ferrell didnt take the role. sounds like a death curse. blood meridian could be done, but you would have to be willing to go all the way with it and mel gibson would go all the way.
In the last couple years I've inhaled all these books and I've got to say, they could make for amazing movies. I don't know if they would be popular enough to get the kind of budgets they would need to do them right, but I would LOVE to see them made. I think there was a TV show, or at least a pilot, at one point.
