Booing Robert Horry was classless and horrible. I was ashamed to be a rockets fan for those 2 free throws.
ok....state your opinion...I definetly was not ashamed. Horry gave us some good times as a rocket, but he is no longer a Rocket and he was wearing a Yellow Jersey last night. As long as it says lakers across his chest...and he is playing against Houston,...he shall be booed...its the excitement of our team competting against Skunk City.
Its not like the crowd booed him everytime he touched the ball ala pippen. That is disrespectful, THey werent disrespecting Horry. To boo on free-throws is part of the game dosent matter whos up there.
Dude, he was an opposing player shooting free throws late in a tight game. Horry got a nice round of applause when he entered the game for the first time. I was there, and I cheered him at the start.
I was thinking the same thing... But then I realized why they were booing... Houston has seen a lot of former Rocket players come in a shoot the lights out! Remember, Recasner? Ellie? Chucky Brown? Maxwell? Cassell? Those guys had great games against us after we traded them. I think we're sick and tired of seeing former Rockets come in and win games against us.
Like others have said, it was an opposing player shooting important free throws late in the game...it didn't matter who it was out there. They weren't booing Horry at any other moment in the game, so I don't think there were any ill-feelings towards him as a player, the fans were just reacting to the situation. There is nothing wrong with that...I mean, we were there to get the win, not show as much respect to former Rockets as possible. This probably wouldn't even have been brought up if Walton hadn't spouted off about it on TV.
This whole topic is ridiculous. I appreciate what Horry did for us in Houston but he's now played more seasons as a Laker than as a Rocket. He has a lifetime boo-free pass? C'mon.
That late in the game, I would have booed Charles, Clyde, Mario, Sam, Kenny, pretty much anyone, except for Hakeem.
Horry was shooting crucial free throws. They almost decided the game. We're lucky Stevie saved our butts with that clutch three. If you're going to let anyone (even former players from our city) get two freebies at the free throw line that'll help us lose, then you're not a true Htown Rocks fan.
I agree. He has played in Los Angeles for 7 seasons now. He only played in Houston for 4 years. He helped us to two championships. He has another 3 with Los Angeles. It wasn't his fault. He didn't want to get traded. I like Robert Horry. I wonder why he isn't a starter and barely has any playing time. Samaki Walker is useless! I still think the only person that no one shall ever boo is Michael Jordan! Unless it's the Finals and the game winning free throw. And if in Houston, Hakeem.
Actually I think the fans did not have ENOUGH flashing balloons up there!!! Rockets fans are just too nice and friendly. I would boo any former Rocket player when he is shooting free throw, and this is part of being a Rockets fan and has nothing to do with respect. .
Dear Uprising, Robert Horry was wearing a purple jersey that night. Sincerely, Smart Ass P.S. i wouldnt boo robert horry during a critical situation. i love the guy too much.. i would hope for him to miss, but i wouldnt boo outwardly. as for those who did, i understand why they did, and dont hold anything against them for it. as long as i cant do it, somebody might as well...
Booing Robert Horry is perfectly fine. I even booed him watching the TV, and I am a huge Rockets and Horry fan. Horry changed teams, and he is no longer a Rocket, therefore he should be treated like any other former Rocket(with the exception of Clyde and Hakeem.) I feel proud that fellow fans got involved in the game and showed their support. We shouldnt condescend against fans who show support for the worlds best team, right??! Anyways awesome job with the win ROCKETS!!!!!!!!!
