This just sounds like a one day issue! Moving to Saturday so he can play on Friday? And this means?..... Did Berman mention he would miss anytime?
Unlikely that Bonzi would need to miss any time for a root canal. Barring the actual time it takes to perform the treatment (like 30-40 minutes at a good endodontist), he shouldn't need any 'recovery' time at all.
I think he needs TWO root canals. They're going to do them on seperate days, for whatever reason. Frustrating.
A root canal isn't a big deal. I've had one done before and you feel fine after it's finished once the freezing wears off. Actually not even painful either. The hardest part is keeping your mouth open for like 90 minutes while the dentist picks away at your tooth, but you don't feel it due to the freezing.
I think it's only because he might miss Friday's game because of it...somehow. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, personally, but then again I don't know much about root canals (luckily).
I guess you would be the expert on the matter. I dunno, we might want to ask Derek Anderson how long it takes to recover from a root canal considering one had him out virtually the whole season a couple of years ago in Portland.
If he has a root canal problem, that means he has severe odontogenic pain, which is on par with pain from child birth or a GSW. You pretty much can't function with odontogenic pain let alone play basketball. You can get wired on pain killers, but anything that is even close to being effective will cause at least some degree of drowsiness. My feeling is he gets the root canal 1st thing tomorrow and he's ready to go by Friday. Other scenarios: he has an infection/swelling. Now he would likely take a slightly longer time to recover and the swelling may take a little longer to go down. Worst case scenario = he misses one preseaon game = not so bad
Oh well. These things are unavoidable. It's not like we just had 3 months in the offseason to take care of it.
Yeesh! It's like the neverending last minute checkups before the season starts. Next thing you know, TMac goes down with a kidney stone...
Here is the article from Rockets.com...im at work so limited in posting abilities...the link is on the 'jvg still needs a backup pg' thread. Wells goes to dentist: Bonzi Wells suffered another setback in his quest to return to the basketball court. No, not because of his groin. Wells missed Wednesday's practice because he needed a root canal, Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said. Van Gundy said Wells needs another root canal later this week and that the forward/guard might miss his second straight preseason game on Friday. Wells already hasn't practice much with his new team because he is dealing with a groin injury. "He's getting setback and we're getting setback," Van Gundy said. "I don't know how long he's going to be out for." looks like he will miss fridays game
an ingrown nail, a toothache, and a bruise on a back....this is why our players aren't playing?! get tough!
