I'll admit it, I was excited about Bonzi coming to town. He was one of those guys who hovered right below all-star and maybe just needed that little nudge to get him going. There were plenty of naysayers, but I'm an optimist and wanted him to be good for the good of the Rockets.

I was happy as heck the few times he got some PT, and would think to himself, 'maybe this time'. But of course, time and again, he never failed to dissapoint.

Given his recent actions, I'm finally throwing in the towel on this knucklehead. I'm admitting it: Boy was I wrong about Bonzi.

Anyone else trumpet this guy as our savior, or at least, more than he is, which is a waste of salary?

I have a lot of friends who are Kings fans so I was rubbing it in all day, and yeah I noticed his playoff performance and thought this guy could really be something special.

I mean we needed a low post player who can be our third option...and we needed scoring off the bench...and Bonzi seemingly could have been both those things and more maybe.

But then he comes to camp out of shape, and all this crap, and it's pretty disappointing.

I pretty much changed my view after the training camp reports, so i'm not sure that counts as believing in him the whole way...

I thought he was the Rocket's "missing link," but he turned out be "the missing link." And he is still missing. This guy must have the "Eddie Griffin" gene. Instead of seizing a golden opportuniy to rebound his stock, he eliminated many if not most opportunities. Who would want to sign this guy?

Exactly. If Bonzi was PO'ed about losing money by not taking his contract last summer, then he's only got himself to blame again. I thought bonzi would be raring to go and drive his next contract number up with stellar play this year. Didn't happen and at least we didn't pay too much for him.

The character and individuality of some athletes need a special coach to psycologically almost nurse them into giving of their best to contibute as an intergral team member. JVG is not this type of coach. So the Rockets were loosers of the bargain talent of Bonzi Wells. :p

The Bonzi-JVG thing has been a bust.

Maybe we can get Rick Adelman or whomever it was that got Bonzi to play.

It would be like getting two first round draft choices next year.

Now the only questions are will the Rockets release him and can the Rockets get someone to fill his roster spot in time for the playoffs??

He was a last minute pickup. No loss here. Though he raised our expectations there were other factors to keep those expectations where they are without him.

Releasing him would be a HUGE mistake. I'm not saying that because I expect him to play, because I don't - I just don't want another team to pick him up for the playoffs! We don't really need someone else to fill his roster spot. Novak is already inactive, put Bonzi on the inactive list and you've got the 12 you already have on the court.

I understand why some of you don't like JVG, but when you call for Adelman it makes me cringe. He is a coach that is notorious for not getting enough out of the talent that he has (he made the finals, so did JVG), not developing rookies (never played Gerald Wallace in two seasons in Sac) and isn't a proven winner either.

That said, I hope Bonzi works out, but I doubt it

    I not only was wrong,

I was Double wrong, because i advocated not trading him to Detroit at the trade deadline for someone else that might have a shot.

Thats where i kick myself the most, by Feb we hadn't figured it out and we wasted the opportunity to get something out of it.

Wasn't there talk of Nazr Mohammed, he would be a nice backup big or Delfino?

its too late for that, only players that have not played at all this season can join a team for the playoffs, like scottie pippen or kevin willis.

if we release bonzi, he can go play somewhere the last 5 games, or not, more likely not, and would sit out the playoffs.

I was hopeful but as soon as I saw the game he had, it was pretty clear that he didn't fit in on this team.

We need perimeter speed, not a man with a large perimeter.
