Listened to the 1st China Game on the radio, and the starting lineup was....

    PG T-Mac
    SG JJ
    SF Boki
    PF Howard
    C Yao

JVG told Worrell and Petterson to not be suprised if this was the starting lineup to start the season.

Boki starting? I can't believe JVG would start him considering how poorly he's playing.

No way. JVG had to be saying that sarcastically.

I was a bit surprised to see that lineup as well. Just goes to prove how much JVG REALLY wants that "tall lineup" in there and probably foreshadows Bob Sura's role (PG) on the team when he comes back and is up to speed.

As for the lineup itself, I didn't like it. I dont like the idea of McGrady bringing the ball up (JJ did it half the time). And I dont like the idea of McGrady chasing around PGs. I think Sura as the PG would work however.

It just seemed like the offense didnt get into the flow as well as when Ward or Lue was running the team.

But, that was only one game, let's see how it works for a couple of games.

i think it would be JJ chasing the point guards. While Boki will take assignments like Peja and R Miller, players that must be chased around through picks and such limiting the strain put on mcgrady on the defensive end. his assignments will be guys that he can out perform with athleticism staying infront, using his quickness...guys like carter, kobe, lebron.

Boki did start, but that lineup changed quick once Sactro went on a 8-0 run.

I would be absolutely shocked if this was a starting lineup on opening day. First off Boki's hasn't played well enough to get a starting spot. And at this rate his team option will probably be declined. And I really don't like the idea of T-Mac bringing the ball up. I think it would be much better if he comes off a couple of screens before he gets the ball in the offcourt set to initiate the offense. He's got such a killer first step that he could get a couple of easy baskets by attacking the rim right away if his defender doesn't get through the screen quickly enough.

Im happy for Boki I hope he proves he deserves that spot by opening day.

Boki has the length and quickness to be an excellent defender and once his confidence aligns with his ability he will be a nice player.

I don't think Boki can succeed in a half court game..only if he had his shot which has been missing snice the workout he did for us back in 2002

My guess is that JVG has a better handle on Boki's capabilities than anyone here...

That's a great idea for a promotion - instead of giving away some lame-azz celebriduck or something, they could give Boki away.

maybe JVG can teach his some defense - and he can be a stopper instead of a shooter

btw - I like the tall line up (JJ was running most of the point duties) - the Coward (aka Scottie Pippen) used to do the same thing

Jordan used to bring the ball up the court all the time back in the day... :)

I think the bigger news is T-Mac starting at the one.

The biggest reason I support Boki is because he has shown me that he ALREADY IS a very good defensive player. He hustles, blocks shots, steals the rock, and gets his hands on passes. I'm not writing him in for DPotY, but he already plays better defense than SF3 EVER did and hustles every single second he is on the court.

You can think what you want, but when that lineup was on the floor it was McGrady that was covering Bibby. Maybe that will change, but that's what happened. On defense McGrady was the PG and on offense McGady and JJ switched off on bringing the ball up court.
