He is averaging 28.6 min 8.9 pts 7.2 reb 2.3 assists per game. Will he be a good player or another bust?
I think he's having a pretty damn good rookie year. He's shooting 52% and has an a/to ratio of 1.5, which is excellent for a rookie center. Sure, he may not live up to the expectations that are normally put on a #1 pick, but it was a pretty weak draft, overall. Besides, everybody knew that Redd and Simmons would be the main focus of the offense. Most importantly, though, he's contributing to a playoff team, unlike....say....Marvin Williams, who can barely get minutes on the 4th worst team in the NBA... As for how good he'll be, that will largely be determined by coaching. If his coaches can get past the whole "slow footed white center" stigma and look at his excellent fundamentals and passing, he has a chance to be a poor man's Bill Walton and make a couple of all star teams...
I think he's a pretty solid player..there wasn't much hype surrounding him when he entered..many predicted that he would be a servicable bigman and thats what he is
i think he will be a solid player but it was a bad pick taking him #1. he just wasn't the best player in the draft and it was a weak draft too. i haven't paid much attention to bogut on defense but on offense he seems solid and has good passing skills.
That's high praise, but I'd put Yao's most-likely future challengers as Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum and Greg Oden. I don't see how Bogut will be able to even slow down Yao, without the size, strength and quickness of the other guys.
He'll be fine. He doesn't have near enough athleticism to be a dominant big, but he has enough size and bball IQ to be a solid starter. Keep in mind, Magloire takes away at least some of his touches, boards, and minutes at his natural position. It was his third year when Brad Miller finally notched 9 and 7.... Evan
I agree as well, but I say legit as a real 5.. I feel the level of competition will be higher with the other guys, but to me I feel they are more of 4s disguised as 5.. I'd add Amare to that list as well..
i said it before the draft and it still holds true after watching him in the league. he'll be a good big man. a guy who will put up 10-12 ppg, 8 rpg. he'll never make anyone say, wow, he was worth the #1 overall pick, but he'll be a good big man for a long time.
He's a good player right now. Sometimes he's the only guy on that damn team that plays any sort of defense. It reminds me of Tim Duncan's first year, where they never gave him the ball. He's not in Duncan's league, but the treatment is the same.
When you have a player with that kind of size of foundamentals, it's pretty certain that he will not be a bust. Whether Bogut will become a star or just a good player remains to be seen. Overall I think he's been very solid this year. Remeber Yao only averaged 13 and 8 in his rookie year. It takes time for big men to develop in the NBa.
I think he has the potential to be a 15 point, 10 boards a game player. He'll never be the main guy, but a very nice complimentary player in the mold of a PJ Brown, or maybe an improved version of Brad Miller.
The three I listed are most definitely not PFs disguised as centers. Howard may have come into the league as a PF, but now he's 6'11", 260ish with the frame the size of a Cathedral. He's destined to be a C in this league if he isn't playing there already. Bynum is the biggest of the bunch, and certainly got the heft to play the 5 position. And Oden is being tabbed as the next David Robinson in size, athleticism, and agility. I don't see him playing the 4 either.
He is not Tim Duncan Jr. as he was touted to be, but I've seen a few Bucks games and he's pretty good despite not getting many touches. Still, he just doesn't scream impact player and I can't see him becoming a dominant player.
He's too soft, and not agressive. He has not lived up to the lofty expectations we all had for him before the draft. You can receive more analysis like this if I'm hired to write for your basketball website.
