It's time to start making plans for the upcoming season.

Sandbox is out (will not have basketball this year). CBS Sportsline, last years home to the BobFinn* Basketball League, will be charging a fee to host a fantasy league. They are charging $129 for football. So CBS is out as well. Yahoo looks like the best option. Has anyone played fantasy basketball at Yahoo before? Do they offer a Slow Live Draft? If not we could hold a draft right here on the BBS (like last year) and I will set it up at Yahoo (similar to Smeg's Footy league this year).

Last year we had a 12 team league and mduke ran a minor league. We had an agreement in which the 2 division winners of the minor league would move up to the Major League. Since Yahoo allow up to 20 teams per league we will add the 2 winners from the minor league, making it a 14 team league this year. SF3 and Matador move up to the 14 team league. Heath is the alternate if Clutch decides not to return. Is Matador still around?

If you wanna get pumped for this season, I recommend this reading:

I say we have the draft on the bbs again even if there is a slow draft option.

Just a lot more convenient imo.

Bob - I have played yahoo the past 3 years, I believe the draft options are Live draft, auto-pick draft and offline draft.

BTW if anyone is running this minor league Basketball league I would be interested in joining or running a minor league since I have experience running the football league right now and having played in yahoo the past 3 years.

Thanks moe. Contact mduke to see if he will run it again this year. If not, it's all yours.

Looks like we will do the draft on the BBS again this year. Is that ok with everyone? When should we start? The season starts on Oct. 29th this year. We should start the draft no later than Oct. 15th.

I don't care about the date too much. Earlier the better I guess, but we do need all the players who will be official ahead of time. :)

I would assume SSG and SF3 would be locks.

Not sure if Clutch is still interested. Not sure if Ren and matador are around.

If replacements are needed it should be pretty easy to fill them tho.

edit: One more thing, I have no idea when yahoo officially opens, and it kind of sucks not knowing what position they classify players as.

i.e. is Ben Wallace a forward or center? TMac a guard of forward, etc.

Not a huge prob, though likely to perhaps cause some hissy fits if we draft w/o knowing. :)

I have emailed Clutch, SSG and Ren and am waiting for response.

I saw Matador post in the Feedback Forum last week. I will try to contact SF3 and Matador to confirm their spot in the league.

If I remember correctly, last year we drafted not knowing how CBS would have the positions of each player.

Another thingy Finn, are we planning to go with the same lineups as last year? (2 guards, 2 forwards, center, flex)

Or the old sandbox lineup? (1 of each position and flex)

I like the 2g 2f myself, makes things more simple.

Matador has disabled his email (through the BBS) Does anyone know his email? or maybe you guys see him in the chat room? We need a response from him if he will be joining us or not.

    Have emailed SF3.

The past few seasons, Ben Wallace has been classified as a F-C and TMac as a G-F, meaning they have eligibility at PF, F, and C and SG, G, SF, and F respectively.

Usually players on the bubble like that will get dual eligibility.

    Thanks SSG:)

    Crisco, we will have a lineup consisting of 2 G, 2 F, 1 C and 3 flex players.

Not positive about this, but I think Yahoo will be the same a CBS last year, in that they don't seperate PG from SG and PF from SF.

mfclark, does Yahoo have game limits per position? In other words, each position is allowed 82 games.

I sort of liked it last year with no limits. It gave you move flexibility. Usually, the choice would boil down to starting someone like Kobe for 2 games, or someone like Doug Christie for 4. More often than not, Kobe would end up outscoring Christie anyway.

    Either way is fine, though.

Right - the default is 82, though you can set it to any of 75, 80, 82, 85, 90, or 95 game limits...or forego them altogether.

Clutch has just replied. He is in and will draft his very own team this year;)

Ren has not replied. Has anyone contacted Matador? We may need to find 2 replacements for them if they don't reply by Saturday. Heath is first on the list.
