MSNBC is reporting that Gov. Jindal will be among the possible candidates meeting with John McCain over the weekend. How do any of you feel about Jindal as a VP candidate?
seems to be inexperienced for those who care. i don't know enough about him to say yes or no. though i've already said no on mccain, i will consider either vp nom.
seems like he could be a muslim and is not a true blooded american west virginia votes NO, especially with mccain being so old
Jindal, Crist and Romney are the 3 flavors for today. Jindal has no chance of being chosen. Crist delivering Florida in the primary and sealing it for the general election is a possibility. If McCain chooses Romney, Mitt's radioactivity will (for me) poison McCain and my vote will be Obama's to lose. I will be VERY disappointed if McCain chooses Romney. My guess is, of these 3, only Crist is getting serious consideration. The other two are merely tokens for public speculation. Jindal because he is a fresh face, a young minority governor in a Dem stronghold and Romney because he was McCain's main challenger for the nomination.
I am just wondering what makes Romney radioactive for you? Really, I don't quite get the hate on him.
Yep, Romney would actually make me more likely to vote mccain somebody that understands business + he has a health care plan that works
True story. I hooked up with Bobby Jindal's sister in law back in the summer of 2006. I remember her telling me about how she was going to leave her job at Dell to go help out on his campaign for Governor.
I've been over this in others threads. A quick summary: A flip-flopping, unprincipled, manufactured, plastic candidate who will say anything (pander) to get elected. It's like he went to a chalkboard and wrote up a list entitled, "This is what I need to say and do" whether he believes it or not. His morphing into a social conservative is laughable. Being Mormon has nothing to do with it. That talk is just another example of "poor me" self-victimization and I'm fed up with the kind of garbage. That's the kind of stuff Republicans are supposed to accuse Dems of doing. If you don't get it now, you never will. BTW, I don't hate the guy, just what he represents: The worst in politicians.
If Jindal can keep his nose clean, he's going to be a future leader of the Republican Party. I don't know whether being on a ticket that gets trounced helps or not, but that should be the determination.
I like Jindal a lot, I just don't think his timing is right here. His status is elevated just being mentioned, so that's a plus long-term for him. Romney is my choice, and a strategic choice, since he is strong in Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Michigan, all key battleground states in the Fall. If the Republicans win Michigan, it's in the bag. Romney's father was the governor of Michigan and the Hillary voters there will likely be pissed that they weren't seated at the convention. Thanks Dems!
I would prefer Crist. Very popular...from Florida...he's 51 years old, etc. Jindal on television comes across as very likeable with good common sense. That could go a long way also.
I think Jindal's political prime is still half a decade or more away. Getting mentioned as a possible VP candidate does help him, though.
I agree. He needs to stay in Louisiana, help turn that state around, and then at the 2012 GOP Convention, give him the spotlight like the Dems did with Obama in 2004. Only Jindal, unlike Obama, will actually have something on his resume to boast about and won't be about empty rhetoric. I'm starting to think Obama being elected will be the best thing long-term for the GOP and especially Jindal. It gives the Dems complete control of everything with huge margins in the House and Senate. They'll run the country into the ground(and can't blame the GOP if McCain ain't in the Oval Office), the GOP can clean house, and come forward with a new agenda and new leadership in 2012. For Jindal on a personal level, Obama's election would make it a hell of a lot easier for an Indian to run for President.
I see, I guess you care more about how a politician looks and sounds than the actual work he/she is suppose to do. To me, I don't care if he flip flopped on abortion, as long as he can balance the budget, get a viable health plan in place.
i love it. hannity and rush will smear obama because his father was muslim (yet became agnostic and married a kansas woman)... but they'll throw all their love behind jindal, who was born in baton rouge to indian immigrant parents and was truly raised in hinduism before converting in high school.
oh, yeah, and jindal is a devout catholic now. if jindal runs with mccain, i'd be interested to hear how hagee reacts.
If Obama pulls a Jimmy Carter, then GOP will be looking good in 2012. But I am not convinced Obama will actually win this fall, he could lose big if a lot of the swing states don't go for him.
