Rockets are going to get jacked around by Mike James while other free agents like Jackson are flying off the market. Then watch James go to Dallas and leave us with nothing. I am so underwhelmed by management at this point that I can't believe it.
ummmmm, would that mean they are not going to resign speedy claxton, since they already have chris paul, and now bobby jackson.
I'm inclined to agree. If we weren't forced to hit a homerun with the MLE, I might be ok with it, but he would take too much of it for a guy that can't hit a 3 to save his life.
rtsp://real.advance.net:7071/nola/abc26/0702spx5.rm offer on table chandler to hornets up to bulls to pull trigger.
I can see being upset with the Rudy Gay trade. But the sky falling because we missed out on the oft-injured Bobby Jacskon? Since the Grizz let him walk, maybe this time we out to follow suit.
It's not about Bobby Jackson in particular for me. It's that it seems like a lot of teams (especially Western Conference teams) are wasting no time making moves, multiple moves in fact, and seem to actually show some sense of direction. Meanwhile, the Rockets have so many holes to fill, they could likely end up in a situation where they'd give an arm and a leg for a guy like BJax by the end of free agency, simply because everyone else is gone. So far, I get the feeling that the Rockets big master plan was to acquire Battier and go for Mike James. That is so underwhelming I can't even put it into words.
P.J. Brown for Tyson Chandler? I know Chandler's stock has fallen since last year but didn't realize it was that bad. He's overpaid but would be a great complement to Yao. Win now, right?
The teams making the majority of moves are re-signing their own players...Jason Terry, Sam, Melo...or they are teams with cap space...Peja. We don't fall into either category. For the rest...Radman and Tim Thomas were the only big signings. There are still 10 days and we need to first and foremost resolve Mike James because that is the linch-pin move from which everything else shakes out. Whether we get a SnT with TOR, need to seek partners for an SnT with TOR, are capable of using the $4.2 TE for James or must use the full MLE are all issues that won't be resolved over night and surely the gritty details won't be discussed in the media.
Eessh. I had wanted Jackson as our backup plan if we lost Mike James. We're taking way too long. Already, in just 2 days, the Clips, Lakers and Hornets have made significant strides while we're just standing pat.
PJ's an expiring contract. They plan on picking up Wallace so this makes a lot of sense. The Hornets are going to be good. I got season tickets for them again and I cheer for them but every time they win it hurts me a little inside. I hate seeing them do better than the Rockets.
Bobby Jackson makes Mike James look like John Stockton. He is loves the off balance, fade away contested 3 pointer.
To the ones griping and crying that the Rockets aren't signing FAs yet, here's a fun tidbit to remember: NO Hornets: 2006-2007 ~32 mil commited Houston Rockets 2006-2007 ~ 55 mil commited Math, hoopshype.com, and understanding of salary caps, and common sense goes a long way
I suggest we wait until the FA signing period officially starts before going into despair about what the Rockets are not doing. None of us have a clue about who else they are pursuing besides Mike James. Last year the Stro deal was announced fairly early and look where that got us.
FYI, the deal is 3 years 17M for those scoring at home. I still feel Mike James is coming to Houston, just a matter of time. Like GATER said, we dont know how it will be consumated though, TE, MLE or a S&T. Speedy Claxton is probably a hot commodity right now and he has a salary benchmark thanks to Jackson's deal. As does Mike James.
