I know everyone here wants to send a huge THANK YOU! out to Bobby Jackson since we were able to use him in order to get Artest. "I only talked to him a few times but he seemed like a really nice coach." -joey dorsey "He made me look like I could play pg, thanks for the minutes Bobby!" L. Head "Bobby Jackson can't hold my, uh, jockstrap" SF3
i went to the first game bobby suited up in rockets red and i liked what i saw. ive followed him since his sacramento days and have always been a fan. i am sad to see him go but i love the trade. thanks bobby
Thank you Mike James and Bonzi Wells for getting us Bobby Jackson Thank you Bobby Jackson and Donte Greene for getting us Artest.
Question: If we never did the Bobby Jackson trade and kept Bonzi Wells, would it have been possible to sign and trade him for Artest? Or was that deal basically instrumental in getting this to happen?
I didn't like you after I saw your 5 seconds in the Deke video and you were making fun of how he talked.
We could have signed and traded him. But it might involve base year considerations and we'd still have Mike James, so having Bobby Jackson's expiring contract made the deal a lot more likely to succeed, and helped out our cap situation.
Bobby, you played well and I remember the Chicago game where you just lit up the entire team and brought a big spark. I didn't appreciate your play in the playoffs, but you worked hard and you seemed like a nice guy. Thanks for your contributions in Houston!
funny because remember when ron said he would kill bonzi for leaving. in some ways we ended up swapping ron for bonzi
Another question: If the Artest thing doesn't work out by midseason, would we be able to trade his expiring contract for another player? That would be nice to have as an option, and Artest might attract a better package of players than Bobby Jackson would have.
Sure. He's still an expiring contract. Although at that point his value would only be as an expiring contract. If he flames and burns here, and needs to be traded, he'll have no value as a player with only a half year contract, not to mention whatever went wrong in Houston.
Thanks. The Rockets and some other teams were considering Artest for a half-year rental last seaosn, right? So, I think there could still be some interest in him. Hopefully if there's a fallout, it's not too damaging.
Bonzi Wells and Mike James for Bobby Jackson?!?!?! Morey you idiot!!!!1!!! I believe in $Ball. Do you?
I also like to wish Bobby all the best and his contribution in the game against the Lakers during the 22 wins.
Bobby Jackson may be old but he is a professional veteran who deserves to be respected irrespective of the trade.
