Did anyone else hear it? I only caught the last half of it. Some things he said: -He's a lot more football savvy than he was 4 years ago and plans to be more of a hands-on owner (me paraphrasing) -He told Kubiak that he wants the best players on the field no matter where they were drafted. He said there is no pressure from him to play high draft picks if they can't play. (I think this part of the conversation started after answering a question about Travis Johnson ) -He said he wants David Carr to be a more vocal leader. He's the QB and that's what's expected of him -Thinks Carr will play better in Kubiak's offense because he like throwing on the run and has more weapons this year -Pledged to vote for Infinite Groove for the 2006 Texans Houseband and encouraged everyone else to do the same -Said Dom Capers was stuck in his ways and didn't want to change from his Steeler/Panther days. Said the same about Casserly and his Redskin days (again, me paraphrasing)
He did. It surprised me too. He was more positive than I phrased it, but he did say it. He said they both had a lot of success doing it that way. He was very complimentary of Dom, saying that the first 3 years were better than expected before "the wheels fell off" in 2005.
It would be hard to see McNair dogging out Capers and Casserly because he has a good relationship. So I guess Travis Johnson is a bust. Notch another one up for Casserly. I'm soooo glad he's out of here.
I have no problem with that. If the Texans turn out to be even 75% of the franchise that Denver's been over the past decade or more, I'll be very happy. On a side note...every time I read your name Ima, I think of that part in that hideous VH1 Def Leppard movie where Rick Allen is standing in the field...his arm severed off...muttering to himself, "I'm a drummah".
