Do you think it is a good/bad thing that his fate is now in the school Presidents hands? I personally think the directors want to make sure they are not the ones to fire Bobby and instead are going to make the President do it. Bobby Knight was a great coach, and he does great things with the kids he keeps for 4 years (graduates, achieves alot for their talent) and this upcoming year he even has a good incoming class. Anyways he was great, but I think it is time for him to go. ------------------

And yet.......... we fans (justifiably) criticize the stupid, unethical, and probably illegal antics of Coach Knight (except for a few IU alumni). But we are so willing to forgive and forget (e.g. Sprewell, Leon whatshisname, et al.) if we think they can help our team win a few ball games. Assault, battery, rape, larceny - it's O.K. if the guy's a 15/10 performer. Most of us Rocketheads hate Karl Malone and John Stockton with a passion for the way they play the game (they cheat! or so we say) - but I'd bet you we'd be singing a different tune if they were wearing the Rockets PJs. Coach Knight is a jerk (the kindest thing I could say sbout him), but let's don't be as hypocritical in criticizing him as his school and AD are in defending him. ------------------ "Who Wants To Be A Rocket?" - and probably a millionaire as well. Bobby: you will never hear me say someone deserves to continue playing if they commit crimes, but there is little comparison between Sprewell and Knight. I actually had the exact opposite train of thought as Bobby. Sprewell was villified and suspended for a year for one violent act, while Knight's violent behavior has spanned over two decades without any repercussions. Sprewell was the most hated athlete in America for a time and still is to many, but until recently nobody gave any thought to Knight's actions. Everyone just looked the other way. ------------------
