2 players that have been rumored a bunch lately so we can go ahead an assume that they are attainable. Now, most of us I'm sure, including myself didn't watch too many Magic and Pistons games. So I can say that most of my oppinion comes from watching the games that they played against the Rockets and looking at the stats. Both of these players are super-subs. Neither one of these guys is the premier starter we are looking for but either of these guys could do spot starts for us. But as we all know, to be a good team, we have to have a good bench.

So judging by the stats of last year, who would fit our team best?

    Jerome Williams
    6'9
    206 lbs
    27 yrs old
    FG%-.564 FT%-.616 REBPG-9.6 APG-.8
    SPG-1.15 BPG-.26 PPG-8.4

    Bo Outlaw
    6'8
    210 lbs
    29 yrs old
    FG%-.602 FT%-.506 REBPG-6.4 APG-3.0
    SPG-1.38 BPG-1.80 PPG-6.0

I don't know if Rudy's still leaning on getting younger players or what. If we got Bo, he would be in his thirties when we were through rebuilding and ready for contention. Jerome is 2 years younger and the age gap wouldn't be as big.

Both players bring a lot to the table. But I believe that Bo would be a more perfect fit. He does whatever is necessary. His stats may not have the numbers of Williams points and rebounds but Bo assists and blocks which are the little things that help out.

Go with Bo! Imagine Shandon Anderson, Bo, Cato and Hakeem in there at the same time...every possession the opponents have the ball, it would either be stolen or blocked!!!!

the stats say that they are both back-ups who, if acquired, should be paid accordingly.

Most of Bo's points are garbage too.

points are points...bo is the prototype of the kind of role player you need when you have offensive weapons like francis, mobley and dream.

oh ... the skinny SF/PF tweener who can't hit a jumper prototype?

I like Bo and his hustle too, but no way should he start, and no way would Bo come here w/o some serious money thrown his way. Money that he is not worth.

It's okay if Williams or Langhi start and Bo comes off the bench whenever you need some defensive strength. My forward rotation would be kind of like Langhi 25 min, Bo 25 min, Williams 21 min, Thomas 25 min. Langhi, Williams and Thomas are all more offensive-minded players, so you need a banger and hustler in there, too. Cato and Hakeem should split minutes at C with Collier getting some garbage minutes.

    Get Bo!

I would absolutely love to have Jerome Williams on this team. He's the best 'rebound per minute' guy in the NBA, for god's sake.

As for Outlaw.. well, I'm not overly fond of him. He brings energy, but he's just not fundamentally good enough, in my opinion.

Det, I would agree Bo would be a good backup( though I would prefer Jerome, as would Fadeaway ), I just urge caution. He is not the answer to the Rocket frontcourt problems. He should not be sought after as a starter.

AND most importantly, he should NOT take up too much cap space. the rockets already have some cheap hustlers, and one expensive one at center.

Look at the free throw pecentage of these two guys! Neither one will ever be a shooter, and the Rockets offense demands the the PF can hit the 15 ft. jumper.

What do we have to do to get P.J. Brown?? He is the perfect fit for the Rockets!

    He was the 2nd best.
    Dikembe was the best.

Yeah, I know, no big deal, but I had to... [IMG]

actually, Fortson beat them both (if I remember right) but didn't play enough games to count.

The more lefties on your team, the better.
Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong?
    Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.

    ReebokStrad,

You're right, but I didn't include him since he only averaged around 15 minutes a game. He was easily better than Dikembe and Jerome, though. BTW, Mirsad Turkcan wasn't too far behind... but of course, he rarely played, either. [IMG]

I agree, Bo would fit in with the Rockets better as well. Williams is a pure energy who hussles like there's no tommorow (much like Bo). But most of his points are garbage points and we already have Cato, KT, and 'Los doing that at the same position.

Damn, Jerome only weighs in at 206lbs? Are you sure thats not a typo? He has to be at least 230.

Looks like this may be a moot point now - regarding Outlaw.
    http://espn.go.com/nba/news/1999/0804/39601.html

The Sentinel also reported Friday that the Magic are discussing a sign-and-trade deal that would send free agents Bo Outlaw and Ron Mercer to Atlantic Division rival Miami for P.J. Brown.

The Magic then would plug Brown into the starting lineup to replace Ben Wallace, who is expected to sign with the Pistons on Tuesday.

Magic General Manager John Gabriel said he could not comment on the report, but the Sentinel said the talks were confirmed by two NBA sources.

Last season, Mercer averaged 16.9 points and 3.7 rebounds in 68 games and Outlaw averaged 6 points and 6.6 rebounds in 82 games.

Brown averaged 9.6 points and 7.5 rebounds in 80 regular season games for the Heat.

I guess Mo Taylor is still without a team then? Where the heck will he go?

A quick thought on Mo Taylor. He and his agent wanted the max, now they aren't going to get the max. It has been said that he may have to settle for around 4-5 million. Rockets also have 4.5 million in trade exception aaaaaannnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaa...I heard a while back that Rudy liked Mo Taylor.

I don't see how we could live with a PF that averages about the same amount of rebounds as some SF's do. Shoot, I bet Francis would average more than him...Francis averaged over 5 a game I believe last year.

But since I truly believe in Rudy, come August 1st, whether it's Taylor, Outlaw, Williams or none, I'll still look forward to the season even if we don't pull a trade or bring in a FA.
