This article goes into it a little more: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna181029 Far-right X account Libs of TikTok, which is known for targeting trans people online, criticized Bluesky on Thursday, posting screenshots of articles written about the platform — one written by Singal about the death threats he said he received, and another about child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on the platform. Bluesky has seen only a handful of instances of people posting CSAM, Rodericks said, when compared to the levels seen on other platforms, but the numbers are increasing. In 2023, while the site could only be accessed through invitation and before it had opened to the public, there was only one verified complaint to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, the U.S. organization tasked with tracking online exploitation. This year, Rodericks said, there have been over 830 CSAM cases, each of which the company investigates manually. Most major social media platforms report much higher rates of CSAM. In 2023, X reported 273,416 instances of CSAM on its platforms, according to the center. Instagram reported 11,430,007.
I am seeing other sites have started to embed BlueSky "tweets"/embeds, so it is likely a matter of time before the BBS library supports it and @Clutch installs it. It is a Brave New Day
I think the real question here would be, why would enabling embetds from a fringe extremist platform that has issues with illegal sexual content be valuable? Should they enable embeds from other fringe extremist platforms too? I just fail to see the value added by bluesky or truth social embeds. Normal people don't use those kinds of platforms for a reason.....and all of the content that matters still comes from Twitter/X, if there was anything of value on those fringe platforms, it would just be reposts of what is already on platforms that matter catering to the extremists. Anyone care to try and explain?
Blue Sky is a better version of Twitter, and it has moderation to account for laws - it is dedicated to exposing misinformation - unlike FB and X which don't protect truth. It doesn't lean left or right, just deals with facts.....and that bothers some people because it exposes the truth. DD

Look, we know you're a known piece of ****. Just because you're a piece of **** doesn't mean everyone else is lying.
You throwing a temper tantrum like a child won't make obvious lies true. I'm just here to combat misinformation spread by extremists. Bluesky is intended to be used solely by far left, pro censorship types who are entirely intolerant to different perspectives.... which is fine, what isn't fine is lying about that. You can enjoy the extremist echo chamber at bluesky just like those on truth social do... but don't expect normal people to embrace that kind of thing, and don't lie about it. By all means, tell me about your favorite right wing bluesky account....
Good topic, but inevitably will turn political and belongs in D&D. My attempt at a non-political response: If we’re going to allow embeds from X, I see no reason to explicitly disallow them from other similar social media platforms. Obviously, people should use discretion and follow forum rules against posting extremist content on here, and that goes for X, BlueSky, or any other site.
I think most of my argument is that it's kind of pointless going through the trouble of adding every little upstart social media platform out there when you already have the one that has everything of value on it. All of the different upstarts like Gab, Threads, Truth Social, and Bluesky are essentially a fart in the wind. You'd waste quite a bit of time making their content embeddable only for maybe one or two people to ever use it before they slide into obscurity.....and then 5 more pop up to take their place. If a social media platform isn't going to have mainstream acceptance and truly widespread usage, what's the point? You might as well just embed the Twitter/X content. If you were going to allow embeds for video, you might do YouTube, but not Rumble for the same reason. If those other platforms brought something uniquely valuable to the table, that might be different....but the only thing BlueSky has going for them is heavy handed ideological censorship....which is the opposite of having something of value.
What’s the line at which you’d consider that BlueSky has “mainstream acceptance”? How is that measured or judged? Number of active users, or something else?
Hard to say, because the "active user" numbers can be drastically inflated with bots, but I think if there becomes a point where it's the go to for that type of social media, that's when they have mainstream acceptance. Youtube is the mainstream video upload site Facebook/Insta is for uploading pictures and for boomers to keep in touch Twitter/X is the primary news/current events platform. There's also TikTok for a little bit longer for crack style short videos. If a social media platform comes around and changes any of that, then we can start taking them seriously, but how many "Twitter killers" have there been already? On top of that, how many normal people have even heard of Bluesky? If this conversation comes up IRL, most people will just say "What is Bluesky?" Everyone knows Twitter.
