What programs are the best for blocking spyware? My parents are very concerned about spyware on their computer, and I was hoping to set something up for them to keep it as clean as possible.

    Thanks in advance.

Go to the lavasoft support pages and check out "adaware" it works great and its free (they keep it updated to). They have the BEST advice about everything from firewalls to Windows bugs and anything you can think of. Plus they have links to every great free download you could every want for your computer (ie) webwasher, popup blockers, etc. etc. :D :) :D :) I love lavasoft! Can't recommend them enough!!! And they have a hangout...not as good as this one though ;)

I did Adaware already, but does that get everything, or just ad software?

    I'd go with Spybot.

Adaware gets rid of spyware thats already on your machine it doesn't block it. I think there might be a way to run Adaware in the background so that it does block spyware, but i'm not sure about that. It works great for getting rid of spyware you pick up here and there surfing the net though...and the price is right (free).

Here is a link to a guys web page who is pretty popular on alt.pricacy.spyware. He has a "simple" and an "advanced" method for dealing with it plus links to where you can get the software. He recomments running Spybot, Addaware and Proximotron at the same time.

    Sponge's Anti-Spyware Page

He even tells you what info his web host can collect.
