Is it just me or since they've gone to "no late fees," have blockbuster stores been chronically out of movies? Everytime I go in there, they've got next to nothing on the shelves.

I rent on a whim, so things like Netfilx hold zero appeal for me. I'd go to Hollyweird Video if it weren't so far from me. And, pay per view is so far behind, it is ridiculous.

    Anyway...

    :)

I never go to blockbuster, they won't accept debit cards. Why don't you try one of those dollar rental machine?

    Oh boy...NAVY SEALS!!

I used to have my choice of four local video stores until the big conglomo-video stores wiped them out. It's a shame too, because with the demise of local video store also comes the demise of the ever-popular porno section.

Is your debit card not backed by one of the credit card companies (it doesn't have a credit card company emblem on it)? I always use my Wells Fargo debit card, but it's backed by Visa. I wasn't aware that anyone would take just the debit card.

Mine is backed by Visa. But to start a membership at BB, you have to have a credit card.

    It's not just you Jeff.

The thing seems to be that now, everyone just keeps it and buys it. All of the kids' disney flicks that we don't own (yet) are dropping like flies at Blockbuster. Some of the older ones are out of print, and this ruins it for the most part.

And I ask if they'll get another copy to rent out, and they say "Probably not."

What's the point of a rental store without any popular, hard to find titles available anymore? If I wanted to buy them I already know how.

Goodness people. Rent it. Take it back. If you like it, just buy it off amazon, or ebay, or even go to the store... you'll get the cover art too!

I can't understand why people would like to add the blue and yellow cases to their dvd "collection."

    Yech.

To clarify, I don't go on Tuesday because, as I said, I rent on a whim. And, I don't do internet for the same thing. There aren't any mom and pop stores right around here, unfortunately.

this is me, exactly. i totally rent on a whim. the idea of signing up for some program and having them deliver movies...eh...it doesn't work for me. so when blockbuster doesn't have it, i try hollywood. if they don't...i'm out.

with MY crappy dial up connection? HA!

Besides, watching p*rn is a lot better on a big screen in a big, comfy chair with no pop-ups...

I heard that several movies are about to release their movies to the big screen, dvd, rental, and on demand all at the same time.

    That would screw blockbuster.

    And probably the movie theatres.

But I think it's a good thing. My TV is so good now I have no need to go to the theatre. I get a better picture at home and a better experience. I have always liked the theatre until I got High definition. Now I don't see the point of going. I don't even need IMAX unless I want to watch it in 3-d. Home is just as good as the theatre.

I suspect Theatres will need to offer something more or will die. Maybe James Cameron can help save them. But I don't know. TV's catch up so quick now. And pretty soon all those cables will be wireless. So it's gonna be even better at home.

As for Blockbuster, I think it's dead now. No hope in my opinion.

Well sooner or later theaters will have to fully invest in digital technology and make the switch..that'll help things tremendously. But there's one thing theaters will always offer that you can't get at home. Personally I want my first time watching Episode III (or any other movie "event") in front of a packed audience on the big screen. The feelings you get when people are aplauding, laughing or crying while enjoying one of the movie events of the year, decade, generation is truly amazing.

And screw Blockbuster...I'm never going back there ever unless I absolutely have to. They care more about stupid late fees than returning customers. And I know January marked the end of late fees...but no it freakin didn't.

Even Randall didn't want to rent a movie at the sh!tty video store. How can you expect Jeff to be less picky. :)
