yesterday i went to the green day/blink concert at the tweeter center in tinley park (chicago) and i had a great time. just wanted to share my day with you guys. maybe this can be a concert thread i dunno.

anyway, we got there at around six. the first thing we did was spend all our money on t-shirts (there was a bunch of stuff, t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc...there was even a green day thong and soccer jersey) i got a cool new navy blue blink t-shirt.

anyways the first band that played was a band called Simple Plan...anyone heard of them? they werent too bad except that by then the tweeter center (it holds about 40-50 thousand people its HUGE) had about 15,000 people actually sitting in their seats and not walking around buying stuff and most of the people listening (including us) had no clue who these people were so there wasnt too much dancing to their songs. they ended at about six thirty.

at six thirty we get up and we are really really hungry but we spent all of our money on t-shirts already. we're geniouses. anyway, we decided to get out of our seats and move to the lawn. the tweeter center has this huge lawn thats pretty far away from the stage, but it gives you a chance to dance, you can hear the band just as well and if you cant see the stage you can still look at that huge screen they had.

anyways, the next band that played started at about seven...they were called Saves the Day and they sucked. heres the crowd reaction: everybody gets up to go get food. a kinda weird thing happened:two guys come up to us and ask if well sell them some bud. i have never done drugs in my life, not even a cigarrette, and we kinda like ignored them. it was weird. we moved up the lawn because we saw someone smoking crack and didnt want to be too close to them.

at about 7:45 Saves the Day finishes their set. the crowd gets restless at about 8:30 and starts throwing stuff all over the place. a fight breaks out. all of a sudden, some guy dressed in a huge pink bunny rabbit suit comes out and smokes a bong up on stage (what the hell...). i guess it was to keep the crowd in check...? anyway, green day FINALLY comes on at 8:45.

they had a cool background that kept changing as the show went on it was great. they played hit after hit it was great. in one song they asked for a bass player, a guitar player and a drummer from the crowd and taught them, in front of 40-50,000 people to play a song of theirs. it was really cool. they played a blues brothers song at the end with a chicken on the trombone and a bee on the trumpet (obviously costumes). they were very very cool.

when they finished their set around ten at night, the curtain fell and blink started putting their set together. we took the liberty of taking pictures. eventually, total strangers came and took pictures with us it was good fun. (i got a picture with this really good lookin chick ive never seen in my life). anyways, it was alot of fun. then the lights turned off and blink walked up on stage.

they played their songs we danced and we jumped and we sang. blink themselves, i have to admit, were not as good as green day but since most of the people there were there for them (is it just me or are they one of the more popular bands in america these days) the crowd sang as well and that was great. it was so much fun. they told their usual poo-poo jokes, some of which were really stupid, but some of which were funny. we had fun jumping up and down when they played "dammit" and oh my god it was GREAT. travis did this thing where he was like strapped into his chair and then the platform with the drums started going upside down and turning like that while he played a solo. it was great.

we got home around one in the morning. we left the house at four. that is nine hours, subtract three hours or so for the drive and it was a six hour concert. it was so much fun. ive been to many concerts, but not many were this great and fun. (the only one this good would have to be Twisted 8 last christmas with puddle of mudd, pete yorn, alien ant farm, 311, sum41, blink, crystal method, and bush and thats not a tour or anything so good luck tryin to go to that one) if the Pop Disaster Tour comes near you you HAVE to go.

whew...that was so much fun i HAD to rant about it. sorry peoples.

Thats sweet, Blink kicks ass!!! Saves the day and Simple Plan are awesome too! how can you say you didnt like them, i guess everyone is entitled to there own opinion. That travis solo sounds ****ing awesome! Green Day teaching kids how to play, thats awesome. The concert i really wanna go to is the Warped Tour. The thing i am pissed about is how where you went they allowed you to have cameras, we werent allowed to have them at the Riverbend in cincy. I still had a good time thought, glad to here you did too.

You want to see great, watch the original. Buddy Rich on a TV show (can't remember the name of hte game show, Jeff might know due to jazz knowledge?) did that in the 1970s. Since then Tommy Lee has taken it a step farther. Now more and more people are ripping it off. Oh well.

Blink rhymes with stink. Green Day rhymes with "Wait a second I thought you said WE were headlining. (*^&^%"
