I said it at the time and repeat it now. The Houston Chronicle should have kept Fran Blinebury and fired Jerome Solomon instead. Blinebury has his faults, but isn't nearly the idiot that Solomon is. What do you think?
Why is Queen Solomon still employed? With his recent comments about the Rockets, why doesn't his ass just leave and work for the sh!tty Dallas Morning News and have a bromance with Tim Cowlishaw.
I don't read either's articles. At the most, I skim them for anything factual, but any opinion of theirs doesn't register to me.
lol @ you guys being butt hurt from Jerome pointing out how pathetic we are. Sports iz serious bizness!!11!!! mess with my fandom and I keel you! grow the heck up. If every writer was fired because he had a different opinion than the mighty clutchfans, we wouldn't have any media members left in Houston. meanwhile, have fun fantasizing about NEXT YEAR! 1-footed Yao is coming back, and there's always hope Dork Elvis will dump another rising star (Scola) for a "proven" superstar who hasn't achieved crap his whole career (Bosh). You'll never know, perhaps we'll get to the second round again next year! it would be a great success! And we'll have plenty of fun in the ensuing off season talking about the "one little piece" we're missing to be Hi-Kwality team (term courtesy of Carl Herrera).
Solomon says outrageous stuff, you guys take it to heart and get bent out of shape about it, his "blog" gets more clicks, and chron.com generates more revenue. Sounds like their model is working just fine. In fact, Jerome Solomon probably loves that you started this thread; it's like free advertising. He knows how to push buttons. Making a fuss about it is just playing his game. C'mon, don't you guys know better?
solowoman is that you?? trust me when i say that houston fans will be more than happy to crap on their home team if it is deserved. but in this case it wasn't. it wasn't like we went into the season at full strength and just choked away games. see oilers, astros, texans or early 2000 rockets.. and to say that DM is ruining the team is just asinine. the guy is like a freakin prophet turning toilet water to fine wine.
this is why we need the negative feedback! if you think clutchfans is pathetic why are you here? if you think the rockets are pathetic because they have only won a playoff series in 16 years, why dont you go to a mavs or a jazz forum, when they recently won more playoffs series than the rockets, but they havent won an nba championship! the mavs havent done anything, they won 60 games, but guess what, they got eliminated in 1st round.
Solomon is cheaper and less bitter about his washed up life. Plus Solomon is too stupid to realize that he's reached his peak.
I personally think Blinebury is a fine writer with a very good understanding of the NBA and the sport.... I always thought his articles had substance and depth. It is probably the way he "packages" his writings that has a tendency to tick people off  Solomon on the other hand, strikes me as a very shallow, substance lacking writer. Plus he relies too much on his fallback caveat, i.e. his writings are merely his "opinions". IMHO, only an opinion that is logical, well thought out and substantiated will receive due respect from the intelligent public. His writings have not reached that bar.
You guys hate the guys who question the team. I never get that because these are the same guys who hold teams responsible for thier action. This is their jobs they suppose to be critical. What do yall want a bunch of yes men who accept loosing and never question the ideas?
You do know this is a Houston Rocket's fan site right? Since you bring up Yao in that manner, you must be a T-Mac fan, and are bitter cause we shipped his broken down a$$ to the Big Apple.
Paper journalism is an outdated concept. What it turned into was a club of good ol' boys with no talent and poor educations plying their trades with impugnity and no real attempt at quality. This was essentially the definition of Fran Blinebury in his last decade with the Chronicle. What remnant of ability that may once have been there departed with his increasing age and bitterness/resentment towards the process of being phased out of society. And it's a common pattern with all such writers: tell me who among Justice, Solomon, and John McClain have not embraced sarcasm as a defense mechanism against claims that they suck. Honestly the Chronicle should just fire all their op/ed writers. As the better fans on this site have proven, they would be much better writers for the Chronicle (and hell they might even have a wider circulation on this msgboard), and whats more they could do it for free.
This, although I commented in the other thread that Solomon damn near made me miss Fran, or something to that effect.
Blinebury's articles actually improved at nba.com. I am not a big fan of either one (or Justice for that matter). Yet, I am uncontrollably drawn to anything that is written about the Rockets and end up reading pretty much anything that pops up online.
