NBA.com links a Chronicle article to the front page, and it just has to be one by our favorite columnist. The article was actually a pretty good one in terms of its discussion of Griffin as an upcoming superstar. Blinebury wasn't intolerable with his outrageous metaphors either. But the guy just couldn't write a nice column without taking shots at some part of the Rockets organization. No, his opening line has to be: We can only wonder what Moochie Norris might decide to take off if he hits a last-second shot that truly means something. WTF?!!! Not a fan of Mooch? Fine. The contrast of Mooch's showboating with Eddie's poise is actually a solid point and well taken. But what has the guy done to you that you still have to tear him down for something positive. You want to criticize Mooch for underperforming during the losing streak. Fine. But hitting a game-winning shot should at the least not be an invitation for sarcastic put-downs. Sheesh. Do I really want to see Moochie's chest? No, actually I don't. But just because suits in the lower prom don't get into the game doesn't mean the players (or other fans, for that matter) should have to pretend they don't feel anything. Again, it wasn't actually a bad article; feel free to turn this thread around to talk about the nice things he said about Griffin. I actually agree with his main point in that I do in fact prefer the quiet reserve of Griffin, Duncan to the struts of our backcourt trio. But darn it, Blinebury, can you please write a column just once without taking shots at somebody! It completely devalues what valid criticism you might make when you're b____ing every f___ing article.
I as well was bothered by the negative tone of the article when Fran was speaking of someone other than EG. Fran just can't right a single article without being a little b**** for at least a few sentences.
Well after years of reading Blinebury's diatribes on the Rockets, it is easy to say that Blinebury is a similar to a lot of fans in this city, he's basically a johnny-come-lately. The only reason why Blinebury took a pot-shot on Moochie (an uncalled one at that) is because he's on record as saying that he does not like the cocky attitude that the team has. To Blinebury, Eddie Griffin is the breath of fresh air that is reminiscent of the the Dream, and is comparable to a great PF in San Antonio. Griffiin plays with a veteran's poise, and lets his game do the talking. Overall the article was good in that it praises Eddie Griffin, but kicks Moochie in the teeth at the same time. Once again another Blinebury classic.
Sounds like Blinebury would be a perfect fit for this BBS, he might even already post here, but it would be near impossible to pick which heat of moment criticiser he is. Go Fran another Classic!!!
I didn't think that opening line was negative at all. It was actually similar to what the guys on 610 were saying about Mooch this morning. You know, "what's he going to take off next time" and all that, and they're definitely big Mooch fans. You guys are reading too much into this.
You think Blinebury's bad, you should hear the sports radio in this town, They love the "Playoff games terrify us" Astros, but they hate the Rockets for some reason.....I swear I'm in another city when they talk Rockets because, they are so negative. I almost crashed my car trying to stick my hand through the radio one time..............
Oh God. Blinebury echoes the sentiments of any objective Houston fan. WTF is Moochie doing with his striptease after hitting the winning shot? It was a freaking regular season win at home, against a team we should have beaten. Not to mention that Mooch nearly blew it the possesion before. I was glad Moochie hit the shot, but I would have been just as glad to see Moochie display some freaking class for once. It's no question why the Rockets don't get respect. We beat a below average team like the Knicks, and we have our backup PG doing his best Brandi Chastain imitation by galloping up on the media table and stripping. Moochie needs to realize what the term "professional" in the word "professional basketball player" means. Damn, what an embarrasment.
LMAO! Too funny but so true. If it had been a playoff game I guess he would have stripped down to his socks. It was embarrassing and adds another glorious chapter to the reputation that some of our players are gaining around the league.
How about just forgetting what he does and worry about the win. Damn, if he wants to get cocky, let the guy get cocky as long as we get the W I'm happy. What more can you ask for? At 11/23 I think a W does mean alot... don't ya'll??
So because we have underachieved, it calls for some celebration? Pathetic. We should be winning 40-45 games this year, and we win 1 game against the Knicks and it's time to bust out the champagne. Where were the streamers coming down from the rafters?
Yeah when Hakeem wins a championship he goes over and sits down on the scorer's table to take it all in but when Moochie wins a regular season game he jumps up on the scorer's table to do a striptease.
LOL! In one of the write ups in the NY papers they referred to Moochie as a "journeyman". Our $22 meeeeellion dollar journeyman!

Moochie actions make Fast Eddie look so COOOOOOOL !
I think you need to re-read my post. I said... I don't care what Moochie does as long as we have the W! Pathetic....
Raven Lunatic: notice he calls all the guards "preening peacocks." Considering how much fans love Francis, to Fran, he stole Dream's throne, and Fran will bash him. Francis does not talk to Fran after some of the early bashing Fran gave out. Can anyone show me the last quote Fran got from Steve or Cuttino? And you know damn well that Les and CD don't talk to him, nor Cato...lol. It seems only Rudy will talk to him now, and that is probably slightly political. that's what truly sucks about Fran: He cannot deliver the quotes. He used them all with Dream to bash the team, the owner, the coach, and the new star in Francis. So what is he; he is a editorialist who using the worst sports metaphors imaginable, and he can't do any in depth analysis because the new team won't give him exclusives, like Dream gave him. He seems to be nursing Griffin here. Griffin quotes are his only hope for the future.
If Fran Blinebury was worth his weight in Hornets Tickets, he would be writing articles like the one Feigen wrote about Eddie Griffin facing Karl Malone for the first time. It's timely but not totally beat-reporterish (has some good history/perspective elements), delivers good quotes, and makes sense. Here is what Blinebury would have written if -- and this would never have happened -- he had though to write on that topic. ----------- A still-maturing rookie fighting for a rebound against Karl Malone is like a Schwinn playing a game of chicken with an SUV. It's hard to tell what's worse, the anticipation or the impact itself. "This kid we got is the" says Rudy Tomjanovich before being interrupted by a far more articulate observer/reporter of basketball, namely myself. Griffin has potential. Malone has power. Moochie is a punk. I hate rap music. And Hakeem Olajuwon is the greatest human being ever to live in Houston. And things are never going to change. ------------ cbfc
CBFC, you rule. Funny how Fran is (allegedly) the voice of all "objective" sports fans when HP's point makes perfect sense. It is proven by Cato. Cato talked to Fran that one time earlier this season, and "The Hallucination" was the result. Now, Cato doesn't talk to Fran, and Fran is screwed out of that many more quotes. Same thing happened to Francis, and I have a feeling the same thing might happen to Moochie. What is hilarious to me is that, if Fran is banking his future writing career in Houston on getting in Griffin's good graces, he put his money on the wrong horse. I don't think Griffin likes all the attention and media coverage, and he will probably be quite reluctant to give interviews. The day Fran is fired will be a good day indeed.
How come no one ever criticizes futball...err soccer players when they do the same damn thing. How about Brandi Chastain( I think thats how you spell it) when SHE took off her shirt and showed her BRA to the world when she scored a goal???? Dude its not like he pulled out his johnson and slapped Don Chaney in the face with it. He hit a last second shot to win a ball game for a struggling team, that ironically redeamed him of a prior mistake. I guess when he scored he should have just walked back into the locker room and said "yeah we expected to win against New York they are a really mediocre team...I hit that shot with 100% accuracy in practice.... We expected to win" Give me a break.
