With the injury to Ginobili and a favorable schedule. Rox might have finally caught a break by over taking the Spurs. Rox Tue 07 vs Orlando Thu 09 @ Sacramento Fri 10 @ Golden State Mon 13 vs New Orleans Wed 15 @ Dallas Spurs Tue 07 @ Oklahoma City Wed 08 vs Portland Fri 10 vs Utah Sun 12 @ Sacramento Mon 13 @ Golden State Wed 15 vs New Orleans Rox will be seeded 3rd, playing against NO for the second round, where rox will play either Denver or Portland. All the tougher teams, Lakers, Jazz and Spurs will all be in the other bracket. But look at the games for Jazz and NO. NO Tue 07 @ Miami Wed 08 vs Phoenix Fri 10 @ Dallas Sun 12 vs Dallas Mon 13 @ Houston Wed 15 @ San Antonio Jazz Wed 08 @ Dallas Fri 10 @ San Antonio Sat 11 vs Golden State Mon 13 vs LA Clippers Tue 14 @ LA Lakers Rox might be playing the Jazz after all said and done, with rox at the 3rd spot and jazz at the 6th. And no matter how i look at it, it is just a bad match up.
Utah could potentially take a big step towards a Houston v Jazz matchup by beating the Spurs in San Antonio. Although, we could get even luckier and if the Spurs collapse over their past 6 games, they could land in 6th, the Jazz could make 5th, and that would be even more awesome.
let my vote goes to beating who ever in the 1st round. beat denver in the 2nd round. beat whoever upsets the lakers in the western conference finals. and then beat the celtics after garnet goes down from a hard fought series against lebron and the cavs.
If I had to choose between a 3-6 matchup against the Jazz and a 4-5 matchup against the Blazers or Spurs, I'd choose the 3-6 matchup because we have a MUCH easier 2nd round matchup should we win. And you have to remember, even though Utah is a hard matchup for us, we took them to 7 games with guys like Alston, Head, Hayes getting major minutes. Scola and Landry are MUCH better than Howard and Hayes at the PF spot. I'll take Brooks and Lowry over that years Alston and Head. I'll take Von Wafer over Head off the bench also. And we also took them to 6 games with no Yao. And Alston, Tmac and Battier playing injured. We can beat the Jazz, it will just be a tough matchup. I don't think we can beat the Lakers. No shot.
I would be sooo nervous if we played the Jazz in the first round again. The thought of losing to them AGAIN is worse than the joy that would come from beating them.
I don't know why people would want to face the Jazz. I mean, sure, we might have a more favorable 2nd round opponent, but: In the playoffs, you have to beat the best, to beat the best. Saying that you want to face an easy opponent in the 2nd round is basically saying that you are content with just getting to the 2nd round, and not concerned with getting further. If we have to play the Blazers, or whoever else, just to face LA in the 2nd round, then let it be so. After all, in our road to the finals, we'll have to face a Lakers team, or the team that beat them, right?
Ginobli potentially cost the Spurs the 2006 championship and now this? Trade him for peanuts!!! Ha Ha.
I don't mind facing Jazz in playoffs but if I had to choose I'd rather face Blazers, Nuggets or Hornets - those teams fit Rockets.
Manu is already done for the season. so the spurs have already become an ideal opponent to play in the first round, the world has changed a lot overnight.
if we win out and Denver lose two (@Laker, @Portland) we will have the 2nd seed. Denver: 4/8: Oklahoma 4/9: @Laker 4/13: Sacramento 4/15: 8:30PM ET @Portland by the time we play our last game, we should know (at least by half time) the seeding of Jazz. The only problem is Denver's last game will be half hour late than we do. Hopeful Portland will win 30 pts by the 3rd quarter like they did to Lakers and Jazz, so we know for sure our seed beforehand. Jazz last game: Tuesday 4/14 @Laker Hornets last game: Wed 4/15 7PM ET @SAN Rockets last game: Wed 4/15 8PM ET @DAL Let's win the following four games first!
Let's get out of the 1st round (for the first time in over a decade) before all the championship talk, mmkay?
The injury to Ginobili hurts as well. I don't see them holding on. They play OKC tonight (who's won 2 in a row against the Spurs), and Utah and Portland the next 2 games. It'll be tough to hold on. Jazz have a pretty tough schedule to finish off the season. 3 of their last 5 are on the road against Western playoff teams. They're record is not too favorable. I see them dropping down to 8th. This is how I see it: 1. LA 2. Denver 3. Houston 4. Spurs 5. Portland 6. NO 7. Dallas 8. Utah
