    Wow.. I mean just wow...

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/35030-2008-2009-nba-season-preview

This guy doesn't even have us making the playoffs.

I left out some of the stuff on the East.

This guy thinks that Dirk JHo and JKidd are enough to keep us out of the playoffs. Some of the things he says are completely off the wall, but I thought I would see what you thought about his predictions OTHER than the fact that he's on "some unknown substance" if he thinks we will miss the playoffs.

Also didn't Tmac only miss a few games last year? At least comparatively speaking.. I figured its gotta be under 20. Yao missed what... half the season?

Sigh. He better not be right. Maybe he will reverse jinx us. ;)

At any rate it made me laugh out loud this morning so I thought I would share.

Here is the bio of the author:

"My name is Patrick Lacey, I am 17 years old, and I am the starting QB at Faith West Academy in Katy, Texas. I love all sports, especially football, baseball, and basketball, as I play all three at the varsity level. If my football career gets cut short after college I am hoping to go into either sports writing, broadcasting, or coaching. I love Texas A&M University, so if my articles may seem a little biased, you know why. haha"

LOL oh my... are you serious? Where did you find that?

Edit: Never mind.. I found it. Well the kid isn't a bad writer just really not educated on what he's writing. It does put a little more perspective on the "greatest we have ever seen" ;)

I understand if the casual basketball fan doesn't realize that the Oklahoma City _____s will not be called the Sonics, but this guy is trying to predict the outcome of the 2008-2009 season, thus claiming that he has quite a bit of knowledge on the subject. At first I thought "Well what else do you call them?" But he used the term "Oklahoma City Supersonics". That just doesn't work.

Booo for this thread. For all else, season previews done before the offseason even gets midway are almost always garbage. When the magazine previews come out in October, you can still guarantee one or two major landscape-changing moves will be made.

This guy's making everything sound like an NBA Live Dynasty game, where you play a 100-0 season with 10 people under 25 (five all-stars, and the MVP) and 20 million under the salary cap. Ya, Chris Paul, Brandon Roy, LeBron, AJeff and DHoward. The young guys suck it all up. :p

Ditto. BTW - the magazines' deadlines are way too early for analysis which works. Wonder what they all said about the Lakes last summer. October. November...etc.

Haha don't worry; I'm with you. Speaking of which...this guy says Brand+Thornton+Kaman is the best frontline in the West? West+Chandler? Okay maybe the Clippers have it better than that, but Amare+Shaq+Diaw? Or Bynum+Gasol? Then again, I don't think it's easy to make judgments about good frontlines (or teams) until the chemistry speaks, because it speaks volumes. But still...really?

One of the kids favorite teams in the Mavericks, so I'm guessing that had a little something to do with him thinking Dallas would beat out Houston to make the post season...

...but anyways, I could really care less what he thinks. I believe Houston was like 2 games out of first place last season without Yao missing most of the year.

    why you mad?

every year of the past 3 years we go in with high expectations and they all ended with a dud.

maybe this year with the hype of OTHER teams, houston will go in with no expectations. our team played well during the 22 game winning streak b/c everyone doubted them. when they reached 17-18, they got the hype and let up a little bit.

we need to be the underdog and play like nobody believed in us.

We almost win the west without our biggest gun but we don't make the playoffs next year??? Come on. And the clippers becoming the most dominant team because of the addition of Baron Davis? They're gonna lose Maggette, dont have a third scorer and absolutely positively no bench, but they're gonna be the most dominant. This guy is an idiot.
